I think that blunt instruments in general are underused as weapons, everything is way too sharp. It doesn't necessarily have to be obscure weapons, just let me violently mash somethings face in for once, the catharsis is occasionally refreshing.

A shovel. You never get to kill things with shovels. I mean, I would expect at least 1 zombie game to let me kill things with shovels, but NO.
Actually, Dead Rising lets you use shovels. They even have a special attack.

Maybe it's me, but I haven't seen many games where the main character uses a battle axe as a primary.

Also maybe a pair of wakazashi.
I'm pretty sure Viking Battle for Asgard let your main character use a battle ax for his primary weapon.
Okay, I said the wrong thing, sorry. I meant a two-hander, like a greataxe. My bad.

bayonets are underused. as well as sabers.
Problem: ones you take off a bayonet you have a knife.

I personally think that canes are underused, a good walking cane is a movement aid first and a personal defense weapon second.
Or at least that's how I feel, plus its a unique weapon used by Sly Cooper, and I love Sly Cooper and more games reminding me of it would be awesome!
Are you suggesting there be a game where you play Andrew "Old Hickory" Jackson?

I have never seen a mace and chain done, but someone mentioned that it might be difficult to animate? Idk it's obviously not as simple as a single solid weapon, it has many parts and if you take shortcuts it may just look like a solid weapon but i really have no idea.
Age of Chivalry. A mod or SOurce engine.
It has Chain and Mace.

The arms of the recently deceased. They're great clubbing weapons, or so I've heard from very reliable sources. Seems like they're unrepresented in most pieces of fiction.

Actually, for console players Whip is a common used weapon. (whip, or whip-like weapons)
Many platform games use this weapon to give their players a tool for swinging and killing monsters with close combat.
Games like Castlevania, God Of War, Darksiders, Bionic Commando...

Whips are a common utility or secondary/tertiary weapon. Rarely a primary weapon.

Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines actually does. The best part is there is a certain power where you can have someone explode. You can pick up their (severed) arm and use it as a weapon. They aren't all that good but still hilarious.

Flamethrowers.
I'm still waiting for a game that can accurately and realistically depict a flamethrower in action

And you will wait for a while, because unless you're using them against the Colossi, whoever makes the game they appear in is basically saying "F*ck balance"

That's actually pretty awesome, I must admit. Definitely sounds like a game I should try.

Pickaxe, I would love to have a pickaxe as a weapon kind of like Sergei from Black Ops because I find that would be pretty cool.

A nuclear _____. I would have fits if there were more nuke weapons in games. No matter how impractical they may be.
I'd love to play a game where I could use the Davy Crocket

Actually, what I really want to see is improvised weapons. I usually only see this sort of thing in horror games or as the close-range weapon in a shooter, but that's it. Fallout did a pretty good job with this, allowing me to use pool cues, rolling pins, kitchen knives, etc. but I want moar. I assume dead rising is based on this principle, but I don't have an xbox and I'm sick of zombies. I want to pick up scissors and stab people with them. I want hit people with reading lamps, I want to shoot people with nailguns. There's a mature rating for a reason; USE IT!

One more thing: I want to dual-wield flaming katanas. I don't care if it's unrealistic or impracticle. It's awesome. I can duel weild katanas in Tales of Symphonia and Demon's Souls and I can use flaming katanas in Muramasa, why not both dammit!?

Eeeeeh....I would say so in actuality. Being the guy with the flamethrower back when they were still used was very dangerous. One bullet could make you burst into flames so if the game incorperated this into the game in multiplayer, it would solve the balance issue that you say would exist. Plus the flamethrowers only have an range of 40 meters, compared to a pistol which usually have a range of 100 yards

The problem is to truly and accurately represent one would require damn good processing power and graphics card. Maybe next generation.

A fair warning though: The official game was rushed out the door because the company was going out of business(people were literally working out of their homes for free to finish the game). The game is buggy as hell, but nothing game destroying. There are fan-made patches. I can't recommend any since I don't which are the good ones.

A spoon.

In all seriousness though, I'd like to see more gamer weapons. By that, I mean weapons that tabletop gamers could come up with and actually be semi-plausible.

Weight sets, whether they be dumbells or the bench press bar, would be cool. I think it would be cool to be able to beat someone to death with a radioflyer wagon or something. XD
