Web browsers and the Escapist

I use Firefox for all my browsing. Including the Escapist. And yes, it is slower here, normally - the pages take anywhere between 10 and 20 seconds to load (completely, anyway). But I haven't had the loading stick, so far. Well, nothing out of the ordinary, at least.

Any addons/options you might have changed on FF?

10-20 seconds? I haven't had a web page take that long since I was using Internet Explorer... On Dial Up... In the late 90's...<.<

OT: I use Chrome... pages take like a quarter second to load anything...<.<

Opera, the browser I normally use. It's smooth, minimalistic, and doesn't catch on fire randomly.

Heh... Opera is mah porn browser... since no one knows what the hell it is...<.<

That's a complete fresh load of all elements. The page is usable way before that. Although, even with the cache, it's not really much faster. Also worth noting that my connection isn't great and the Escapist pages are around 1-2 MB.

I abandoned Firefox for Chrome about a year ago and never looked back. If this site ever lags it usually do to traffic on mine and/or the site's end.

I have always used firefox to browse the escapist, it loads smooth and fast for me, though I don't have ads or captcha to worry about because of pub club. The escapist does slow down sometimes though but that is generally down to it being a Monday/Wednesday at the time the days content goes up (LRR, yahtzee ect)

Firefox. I don't have any problem with the site, really. Used to, but not anymore. The issues just stopped.

Used to use IE until for some reason it stopped working on my laptop. Now I use Chrome and have few complaints.

There's a few issues with large pictures pushing crucial features off the edge of the page (like the 'next page' button on the forums) but that could be a problem with other browsers as well, I just can't check.

I use Chrome for everything, including The Escapist. I was really comfortable and settled in with Firefox, but it was just too damn slow to starting up, and wasn't that fast for me. I downloaded Chrome hesitantly (I say hesitantly because I believe Google is evil and trying to take over the world), and was happy to see how quickly it ran. I still kept firefox around though due to some of its features, and also because some things just don't work with Chrome like with firefox, like the youtube download buttons, those don't even show up in Chrome, but do in firefox. When I got my new comp about a month ago, I didn't bother re-downloading firefox and I haven't looked back. Also love adblock. I would be both dazed and confused if I ever saw something as foreign as a youtube ad before playing a video. And pop-ups are generally controlled quite well too.

I use Rockmelt, which is essentially just a modified Chrome, so I guess I'm in the Chrome category. I used to be a Firefox fan and then fucking everything stopped loading on it and it kept telling me I was up to date. Tried re-installing it and that didn't work so I switched over to Opera. Opera worked for a little under 2 weeks and then a friend recommended Rockmelt. Been using it for a bit over a year and it's worked beautifully.

I use Pale Moon for everything. Pale Moon is a custom build of Firefox, specifically optimised for Windows, with a number of features added by default (notably to retain the normal status bar that has long since turned to the Chrome-style popup which I can't stand (though there are options to have this style and others as well), and with additional options to customise the smooth scrolling timings/behaviour), and some unnecessary or unwanted features removed (such as silent updating which can be considered a security risk, and various other things that serve largely to bloat the browser and can often be replaced with more effective tools in the form of add-ons anyway).

Personally I find the performance of this browser to be noticeably better than regular Firefox while retaining the ease of customisation and add-ons that I find to be lacking in Chrome.

I find it hard to judge the loading times of different sites lately as my internet connection here is becoming quite inconsistent. The escapist website has been alright recently though, usually only taking a second or two longer than most other sites (rather than taking almost 10 seconds on occasion as it was not too long ago).
