Ok I know I shouldn't be surprised by this since it is the internet but has anyone ever noticed that when something is posted praising something more people that don't like it respond then people that do. I found this to be the case on a watchmojo top 10 list where they counted down the top 10 prequels. A few of their picks were Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Prometheus, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Now I know the hate the Star Wars prequels have but I was under the impression that there was not quite as much for Ep. 3 which most people will say was actually quite good. Still the comments on the video largely were negative comments about their picks. Specifically these ones. I saw more comments saying that all of these sucked then I saw comments praising anything on the list. I found it odd as I was under the impression most people liked The Hobbit and Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and that while mixed I thought the feelings toward Prometheus were at least warm. So I found it odd that a bunch of people seemingly came out of the wood work to say these films sucked when I had no idea that that much bile was held against them.

Of course its a youtube video with a few thousand maybe hundred thousand views. I don't remember. And yes I know of the internet dickwad theory but I found it incredibly interesting. Interesting that it seems more people who hate stuff will post comments saying they hate it and people who do like stuff won't comment at all and when they do its far few in number. Anyone else ever notice this? Essentially when the fans who like it remain silent but (if we are speaking in franchise terms) fans who didn't like it voice their opinion and make sure you know they didn't like it and that you are wrong for disagreeing with them.

People are more likely to respond negatively to something then positively for various reasons, the most common of which are...

-Trolling
-The need to correct others and be right
-Honest debate
-Trolling

On the other side, here's reasons to post in agreement.

-Urge to say 'Me Too,' be in like minded group
-Group wank over how good something is

I guess there really are more reasons to want to post something negative. I'm sure I've seen it before but I just never thought about it so I figured I'd post it here and see what people make of it. No community is devoid of trolls or idiots but the escapist community is the sanest one I've seen
