So it's about time for me to switch my web host. I'm currently using Just Host and while it's been okay for my little, low traffic art site, I don't feel like I'm getting the best for my money. I would also in the future like to run a webcomic, so I'd need a host where that wouldn't be a bother (or lead to hidden fees).

I've done some searching online, looking at different companies, but opinions on most seem to be split between

"*insert company name here* is the best thing on the internet ever!" and
"*insert same company name here* is the biggest scam ever!"

I've found Hostgator for example on both best hosts list and worst hosts list.

So now I'm just confused, can anyone recommend me a web host that works well for them?

Erm, I've only used All Simple myself. They were pretty good for my needs, but...well, my needs were "internet hosting" and that's about it (though I also got the domain name from them) - the lowest package they offered was something like £3 or £4 per month (which may have included the domain name) which was all I needed. I don't know how good other packages are value for money-wise, mainly because I haven't looked at other hosting services.

If it helps, I know a friend of mine did use Hostgator for his projects, and he hosted several stuff there, so based on that, I'd trust his judgement. I should note that this information is about 3 years old, so things may have changed.
