Weird game "habits"?

Got a lot of weird habits, but perhaps the strangest is this: I've got this plastic ring with a huge, very obviously fake emerald on top of it. For some weird reason, I simply can not play games that involve managing some kind of collective without having it on. XCOM, any Pokémon game, Tropico, SimCity... I feel the need to have this huge, uncomfortable ring on my hand that throws my hand off balance. Even led me to loose my best man in XCOM when it shifted the weight of my finger down onto the right mouse button when I didn't mean to move him. I still feel completely wrong trying to play managment games without it.

I like to finish with overkill. I don't know why (it's actually really annoying in Pokemon, trying to beat the Elite Four and having to get a shitload of ethers for your top moves), but I just do.

If there's an in game codex or the ability to scan targets for more data, I'm usually pretty interested in that.

Compulsive reloading when I'm in shooters.

Playing magic users whenever possible. It gets frustrating when I WANT to play something else (rarely a traditional warrior, but sometimes I have fun playing a ridiculously heavily armored type) but have to stop half way because I'm not magical enough. Dragon Age 2 for example. I WANT to play a rogue once in a while, but I keep getting drawn back to mages. I eventually had to justify it in my head that Hawke's invisibility/flash step tricks as a rogue were latent mage talents or something.

Once I've played through a game, I usually play through it again with some kind of handicap (fist weapon Dark Souls playthrough, not buying the dodge ability in MGR). I just like to be able to say I did something the the "break down a cement wall with your face" way.

I must always attempt to be stealthy in any game where this is possible.

Also, in grittier RPGs, I'll play through a second time with the rule that my character must immediately go after, pick up and use any and all drugs/alcohol that passes his/her sight.

Here's a Skyrim one I've noticed I do... every so often I have to walk to the nearest lake and punch a mudcrab to death, and then keep punching it for another minute or so after that. I've not worked out why I do this but, man, it's got me through some tough nights.

Oh, and I've never posted here before. Hello!
I see my incessant nagging has paid off. Welcome aboard. You know better than to go near the basement.

I was just thinking the other day how I've been meaning to spend less time having a real "outdoors with other people" kind of life, so the timing for another forum was excellent.

Glad to see you've brought your internet back from the dead, by the way.

When I first played Fallout: New Vegas (my first Bethesda-style game), I compulsively picked up everything that wasn't nailed down - tin cans, pool cues, you name it - so that I could sell it for a feeble amount of money. It took me a while before I learned that it was somewhat impractical. I also kept trying to go straight to New Vegas instead of taking the proscribed long and circuitous route, which mainly ended up with me being eaten by Deathclaws or Cazadores. I did eventually find a fairly short route - I went east through Hidden Valley and sneaked through Black Mountain with a Stealth Boy I found earlier.

I have to smash every box/vase in a room before I'l move on. BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW.

Also, I tap a little tune on the sides of the controller during loading screens, Its always the same tempo.

Certain games have addictive collectibles. Lego studs and Ratchet and Clank Bolts the most probably.

I lost three months of my teenage years to those bolts.

Everyone seems to be pissed at me when I skip meaningless filler side-quests that have no reason to exist other than to give extra experience and I always do it unless there's an interesting story to it.
