Men are 6 times more likely to be struck by lightning than women.
This would seem to be a confusion of statistics and probability. I would say this indicates that men are more likely to be doing an activity that puts them at higher risk of getting struck by lightning. So, 6 times more men than women struck by lightning does not mean men are 6 times more likely to be struck by lightning. Physiologically, there is no difference between men and women to account for even a tiny difference in chance to be struck by lightning (except average height), so it must be due to circumstances placing more men in harms way than women.
That is true, but you could also argue that as men tend to be bigger and more muscular then women, there would be larger amounts of iron in their bodies, making them more conductive. And as you said, men are typicaly taller.
Men also have a higher cellular water content than women, making them slightly more conductive.

Condoms were invented by the anchient Egyptains. They were made out of cobras' moltings in those days.

The chemical that give squid ink its colour is the same as that which give humans suntan (melanine I think).

Despite what the d+d rulebooks say, a healthy human can easily wield a falchion in one hand.

Some sharks' predatory instincts kick in before birth.

Chritmas is only held on the 25th of December to allow it to replace the Roman festival of Saturnalia, which may have replaced and older Celtic festival.

If it's completely dry, custard powder can be an effective flamethrower fuel.

Dogs can't look up.
Everyone who has owned or even seen a dog for longer than a few seconds knows that's not true. They look up all the time, try placing a tennis ball on their head.

Ah, but that's a LIE!

I'm willing to admit that the numbers on this may not be accurate, but your link doesn't offer any proof to show us that it's completely incorrect. All it says is that spiders are too smart to climb into someone's mouth, which is bullshit. Spiders are always wandering up to humans seemingly unaware that the likeliest outcome for them is horrible death. If they were so smart they'd stay out of my house.

My weird fact: I thought this was common knowledge until it came up recently in a thread here, and I just want to spread a rather sensitive fact so no more people are brutally murdered.

Ireland is not a part of the UK, Great Britain, or England. It is most definitely a country all it's own. ...despite the English's best efforts.
I agree with you, in which dogs CAN look up.

But, did you read the full spider quote?

The Mona Lisa has no eyebrows.

There are several species of parasitic fungi that infect various ant species (and other insect species, ant one being the most interesting) and make them return to the nest to that the ant might sprout in the nest. The ants seem to know when a member is infected and try to kill and remove the member from before the fungus can sprout. Among other species they tend to force the insect to higher ground so that the spores of the fungus will spread to a wider area, more chance to infect others of the species.

A bacteria maybe responsible for cases of schizophrenia in people, the bacteria uses cats and rats to complete its life cycle, actually infecting the brain of the rat and making it attracted to the smell of cat urine.

I can go on all day.
Toxoplasmosis? That would be an amoeba. This is the first ive heard of the schizo link.

Each eye has three optical hemispheres, which allows the shrimp to comprehend 3 dimensions with one eye better than humans can with two. It can also see up to 6 types of light polarisation and has 12 colour receptors, as opposed to 3 in human eyes, allowing it to see colours we couldn't even comprehend.

trippy. and i dont think the word "and" counts.

The link is on the shaky ground of people thinking it maybe outlandish. They have found the organism in some shizo patients. They find that very same medications that prove so effective in combating schizo cases kills the organism. They started to research into the links and hit the road block of people not wanting to give money to them. The first question to pop up is always why does the organism only show up in some schizo cases? I for one think the link should at least be looked into more. I am fairly sure it will be eventually.

You need to make some indication that you're not actually just saying it. Maybe italise it or something? :p

Consumption of large amounts of chocolate is biochemically analogous to falling in love, not having sex. There is a big difference.
Santa Claus wears red and white in the US in order to match the Coca-Cola logo.
In Massachusetts, county sherriffs must appear at all court trials in their districts wearing a uniform that includes a cravat and sword.
Idaho is one of only two states in the US to still have the firing squad as an option for capital punishment, It was last used sometime in the 1970's for a serial killer of some sort and I'm told that the state justice department recieved upwards of 10,000 volunteers for the job.
Batman's Batpole is about a third bigger than Robin's.

Unless they had changed the rule since I was in grade school "and" doesn't apply unless it is a number over 1,000. 1101 (one thousand one hundred and one) where it's 101 (one hundred one) That is if I remember correctly.

Also, most people know this thanks to Mythbusters but... Bulls are colour blind. Red is not what makes them charge, but motion.
Did you watch the whole episode?

They stated that bulls are not colour-blind, while the colour red doesn't piss them off, they can still see it. Bull's (and probably cow's) vision is dichromatic, meaning they can see two main colours: Red and blue, they can't see green. Our vision is trichromatic.

Nah, not really. I had hockey that day and left. I was taught by my science teacher they are colourblind. Now I must tell her not to spread false information. Bad teacher! Bad!

The hitchiker's guide to the galaxy rules!

on topic... Humans and dolphins are the only animals in the world that have gang rapes
Most dolphins are gay by the way. They mate with females only when there is an urgent need for reproduction and they mostly just rape them... in groups... Sucks to be a dolphin girl ;p

ps. Mouses also have gang rapes.

ps2. (last one ;p) bananas have a fair amount of potassium cyanide in them.

Erm, the average, adult, human body contains 5 to 6 quarts of blood, of which it can lose about 40% before death is inevitable? Aki Hoshino's breast size is 34F? People who don't wear shoes tend to have healthier feet than those who do? Bowler hats were originally designed for horse riders, as top hats kept falling off? "Buddha" is a title, not a specific person, so there are/were, in fact, many Buddhas? The flag and coat of arms of Austria was taken from that of their historical monarchical rulers, the Habsburgs who, in turn, took their coat of arms from the Babenburgs? North German humour is very similar to British humour? The unofficial title of the British Prime Minister's cat is "Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office", and there was no Chief Mouser during Tony Blair's term due to Cherie Blair being allergic to cat hair?

I know a lot more random things, but I can't remember most of them right now.
