Hello Escapists!
Over the past few weeks we've seen a sharp spike in the number of new users here in the escapist magazine. I would like to welcome you all to our community. I know that the story leading up to this massive exodus was an unfortunate one, but I hope we could get past it together. So without further rambling on my part, I would like you to introduce yourselves to the escapist community. I hope you will all integrate well in the various forums and enjoy the content as much as we do. Welcome to the Escapist!

Greetings, sir. This has been quite the time waster for me, but it's been an interesting place.
I'm still totally new to the forum thing.

Were there really so many new members registered? I really hadn't noticed. Your resident time machine gives its salutations as well.

Well I hope you all stick around after this whole debacle. The forums are normally a chilled out place for a bit of 'escapism'...

Hi.
Joined even before this whole mess. Lurked around before that for Jim Sterling, Moviebob and Yatzee. Well. Hope I can bring myself to stay after this whole shitfest finally ends.

About me?
I'm Tim. I'm German and I like Videogames.

Holy shit on a stick.

I didn't even know the forums had been around that long.

I like to think of myself as bordering on forum old guard, but you're like some kind of forum titan rising striding out of the ocean depths to say "Hi".

There's somebody kicking around here who joined in 2004...so they say. >.>

OT: Welcome, welcome and don't touch the marmalade! The Forum Games are getting a little cobwebby.

My name's Robert Fringmanné, and I joined the forums because The Escapist is the only place that will allow me to discuss kissing slices of toast full-on with tongues out. No other forum can handle the taboo subject matter, but Archon gave me a place where I can be free.

Hi. I joined as a premium member a few month ago because I had some cash and thought "I do like this site, and I do hate ads". Then... stuff happened. In the forums. And things got weird.

We're a very progressive place here Robert. If someone wants to french kiss their toast or engage in similar acts with various breads, pastries and confectionaries, we won't judge.

It's good to honest with oneself.

Oh, don't worry 'bout that unduly. While it's a pretty popular subject around these parts, we haven't seen anything like a thread that size (or trouble of this magnitude) for a few years, IIRC. Just ask the Guards about the Great Pornographic War.

EDIT: Whoops, forgot the upside. "...So we probably won't see trouble of this magnitude for another few years at least". Boom, son!

Googling your surname brings up this thread as the one and only result. That's pretty radical.

Hi,

I just registered today. I was a lurker here for maybe a year because of Jim Sterling and yahtzee. Thought about signing up for a while now, before gamergate etc. started, to maybe do some roleplaying.
Well, now I did it, in fact because I thought apart from looking more into forum roleplaying (never did it before), maybe I should try to post in the gamergate-threads with a relatively neutral stance, to see what productive can come out of this shitstorm.
I wanted to do this yesterday and then the ddos happened. Unlucky timing.

At least it convinced me now to sign up for real. I don't know if I will post about gamergate yet (probably will). But that's not (only) what my signing up is about.

To get better at writing in english is also a part of the reason. I'm german. And I am a gamer.

Speak for yourself, I judge and judge harshly. For instance, what type of bread, was it was just white, how long was it cooked, what device was used, how long was the kiss, too long or too short, how much saliva? All these issues and more could result in points deducted.

Ah, another Yahtzee and Jimquisition fan! Glad to have you with us! Now for a matter of great importance: is that a hamster with glasses or a bread roll with glasses in your avatar?

We'd love to have you in the forum games. There are quite a few good user groups for discussion, such as the United Nations of Pure Fun and the Forum Games Group.

It's a hamster! :D
Thanks for the welcome, I think I will now read all the forums.

And I want a badge. I actually watched ALL of Zero Punctuation on the Escapist some day, but I obviously wasn't registered :(.

If you finished watching them in the evening (US server time), they should show up some time the next morning. There's also a nice free one I think you can get at the bottom of this article:

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/video-games/editorials/reviews/10514-DuckTales-Remastered-Review-Like-a-Hurricane

Also, if someone mentions clicking a red button, well...you'll get another free badge for that, but the price is a terrible one!

I've been viewing the site for ages mainly for Jim and Yahtzee. Well actually that's the only reason I came :p

Never really noticed the forums that much but after I heard they were attacked I felt sorry for the site and figured I'd sign up and support the forums and the site by using them. Hopefully that will mean I visit more often and view more ads.
