I'm honestly surprised they didn't immediately jump on Erin for not conforming to the idea that pitchforks are the ONLY acceptable angry mob tool.

Why the most people who satire these kind of situations, think they aren't mad/angry in reality?
We know that they hate something and have a reason. The problem is they don't have good reasons why to hate it.

The reason mostly is summarised in only one sentence, but they are trying so hard this one sentence to transform it into a book.
THIS is the problem!

Because a large amount of the time, they dont have a good reason. They just like to make lots of noise and whine so that they get attention.

I don't use twitter either, but always got the impression it was a bit like this sometimes.

I know it's thanks to the internet magnification effect, or bad news being more click worthy than good, but now when I hear about twitter it's usually pitchforks and torches.
When it was a new thing, I'd hear about it more but it was primarily the novelty causing it to be news worthy I suppose.
Started out so innocently too.
Stephen Fry saying "I ate a sandwich."

I miss those good old non news days, but I guess I could just grab my nearest gardening implement and join in too.

I've heard the same thing about Reddit, which is why I don't go to either one. Which is kind of a pity, because some comic book writers I like are on Twitter, and they write some pretty funny things. Just nothing that fires up an angry mob.

If you go back a few months ago here in the UK, two people faced court cases over pretty extreme harassment they'd engaged in over twitter, and both of them pretty much said they had no real beef with the person they had harassed, but there was a big mob piled on them, and they were getting retweets and faves for the crap they were flinging at the victim, so they went all out on it.
