the poll here, when i saw it, read 60% of the audience as willing to vote. thats well over the 30-40% of the ordinary populance who vote (in the UK). this, in retrospect doesn't surprise me at all.

now im bored of people (including gamers) bashing gamers for being, well you don't need me to repeat the list of negative gamer sterotypes, but what sort of stuff are you proud of gamers for escapist?

EDIT* my train of thought runs: a sample of gamers shows that gamers are more liklely to vote than the average citizen. this is something that would me makes me proud to be a gamer, as it demonstrates, in my mind, that gamers are more principled than the normal citizen.

I'm sorry, I'm having trouble following your train of thought. How did you get from voting to why I should be proud of...
Actually, you know what? Never mind. I'm probably missing something here anyway.
So... Why I should be proud of gamers? Hmmm... It would have to be for showing the world that video games are, despite all the odds, both a valuable, enjoyable passtime, and an art in themselves. And for soldiering through all the hate to become one of the biggest, most diverse and fastest growing communities out there.
And also for Halo.

Because obviously, because 200 people on a forum dedicated to gaming say that they vote obviously shows that gamers are more principled then an entire country. Suuuuuuuuuuure...

Well when you tally all the people who vote (without messing up) it's more like 79.4% And lets not forget that 5.6% of the poll is taken by people who can't vote and so it should be higher.
Also why is 60% a big deal in the UK the average turn out for a general election is around 60%.

OT
I dont feel pride in what other people do let alone just because we both play games.
