Some of you may know me, most of you don't. No matter what, I have a problem.

You see, I'm in High School. Now, before you close the tab and laugh at my angsty teen-aged worries, I have a few actual serious High School problems.

You see, I'm horribly failing math. I just don't get it, and they're saying that I'll most likely get held back at this point. That being said, I don't think I can handle 3 & 1/2 more years of high school, as I'm a Sophomore. I might be able to handle the rest of high school if I were able to move on, but that's not really an option at this point. That is unless I want to get 12 tests and a final done in 6 weeks during summer, as well as a years worth of review.

I'm seriously considering dropping out. If I were to confront my parents about this, I'd likely get a "Tough luck, when you're an adult, you can do what you want. If you want to drop out, then we'll treat you like an adult, so get packing." Type of response from them, and the same from my other family, my friends will likely just give a solid "Meh."

I have some skills that I could utilize for profit, I'm a good writer. And I could play music, but those likely will take me time to get any profit in return. Or just not give me profit at all.

So, I ask you for some advice, not your pity, nor your criticism. Just advice.

You don't want to drop out. It won't be good for you in the long run. I can't really help you with math though, as I've always had math come to me easily ('cept the graphs. I hate those damnable graphs...)

I suggest just swallowing your pride and study your ass off over the Summer, or swallow your pride and study your ass off during your extra year.

Dont quit school. Its not a good attitude. "It was hard so i quit" is basically telling employers to turn you down.

Just try & get outside tutoring at Maths. Maths IS hard, I hated it in High School, But i never got the option to quit.

Just stick with it dude and ask for help from other when you need it. I hate math with a passion and find it incredibly boring when i have to take classes that have me learn it, but persist and eventualy the horrors are over.

Buckle down and get working, damn it. Nobody likes school (except that one crazy eccentric kid), and everyone has a subject they'd rather not take. Just enroll in lower-level math classes, get it out of the way with a lot of effort, and get your diploma. You're not going to get anywhere in life without it.

Do not drop out because you don't get math. Seriously.

Dropping out will seriously cripple you in the future. Just stick with it, I'm currently a senior and trust me when I say it begins to go by quickly.

As for the math, you have a few options, get a tutor, see if your teacher does info sessions after school, do summer school, ask a friend who does get it. There are plenty of outside resources to help.

Also, not all maths are the same. I personally find Calculus to be the math I enjoy most, despite being the hardest. I liked Algebra as well but detest Geometry and Trigonometry. Just because you don't "get" whatever math you're in now doesn't mean you wan't "get" a different type. Just hold on.

In a nutshell, don't drop out and get a tutor.

Also see if your school's chapter of Beta honors does free tutoring, mine does. It an be quite helpful to have a peer helping you out.

Don't give up and try getting a tutor for Math. You might have to be held back at this point but come on, don't take the easy way out. It might seem cool right now to drop out but in the future it will bother you like crazy. That's all I gots good luck!

I've got similar problems, but not due to lack of ability, but because of my crippling organization problems and procrastination. I would not drop out of high school if I were you though, having a high school diploma is important and being a drop out never did anyone any favors.

Stick with it dude, quitting high school is probably one of the worst things you can do for your future. I'm currently a college freshman working on an Aerospace Engineering degree, and I still hate math with a passion. I have never been good at math, and it was always my lowest grade all through high school.

To this day, math is still my major academic weakness, but I am getting better. What you need to do is find a method of studying that works for you and only use that. Last semester I was able to find a method that worked for a Vector Geometry class I was taking and pulled a D up to an A-. The main thing to remember is, don't give up.

I'm sucking at the current unit in math (Trigonometry) I just ask my math teacher for help, really most teachers are willing to help and in a high school with plenty of math teachers if one turns you down there is always more, the hard stuff will be a breeze when they get you to understand.

Don't drop out, you will hate yourself for doing it and an equivalent is nothing compared to the actual diploma.

Kid don't worry yourself about math, unless you are planning to send a rocket into outer space don't sweat it. I'm 40 years old and have had no use for math unless i'm shooting at something. Stay in school, don't drink, stay away from drugs. That said,FUCK MATH!!!!!
