Its seems whenever I hear sombody talk about underated games, it always seems to be one of the 'Well Known' underated games. You know, Things like Earthbound or Beyond Good and Evil. I suppose its a good thing that these games are now more well known but I will be damned if that will do anything to make people play them.
There are many more examples of this but what games are REALLY unknown?.

Okami, Gunstar Heroes, The Lost Vikings, Legend of Mana, Metroid Prime Trilogy

Metroid never gets the credit it deserves.

I'd say Psychonauts and Shadow of the Colossus, but they've had their dues given to them and no longer are really fit to qualify as "under-rated".

As far as I know from interactions with people I know, and the people who live in my area, any game I have ever played before the release of the current generation of consoles.
-Dungen Keeper (PC) Made by Bullfrog Entertainment, founded by Peter Moleynux,or however you spell his name. Bullfrog went under and became Lionhead. Dungeon Keeper puts you in the position of the bad guy in a God Game meets RTS in the fantasy medieval ages...Underground.
-The Legend of Dragoon (PS1) Made by Sony. Amazing 4-disc long RPG,which takes the classic views of fantasy RPG,and runs in the opposite direction. Dragons look like bio-weapons,and is awesome. Additions made combat interactive, enjoyable and skill based.
Heroes of Might & Magic III:Restoration of Erathia (PC) Made by the now defunct New World Computing, published by 3DO. Turn Based Fantasy Strategy with solid story. Hard as HELL,but very enjoyable.
-Gothic,Gothic II,Gothic II,Night of the Raven (PC) Made by Pirahna Bytes. Dark Fantasy RPG. Absurdly difficult early on,but very fun once you kick the difficulty curve's ass. Fully voiced,wide-open world, amazing story. PLAY IT NOW! IT'S ON STEAM! Avoid Gothic III like the plague.
I don't know if lots of Escapists heard of em,but the people I've brought these titles up with were genuinely confused.

Erm...Mirror's Edge? I thought it was great myself, really great, but everybody else seems to have found it middling.
I quite enjoyed it. My main gripes were that about halfway through the game becomes a first-person platformer instead of a free-running game (if you can see where I'm making the distinction), and that they added difficulty by adding more guards instead of making more complex routes to run through.

They didn't play into that feeling of jumping from a huge building on to one that's 3-stories lower enough; something which Assassin's Creed 2 nails, especially when you're in Venice.

OT: I've always felt that the Sands of Time is a sorely underrated game. Any developers that want to know how to build a believable relationship between two characters convincingly should take note.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters.

I couldn't afford Street Fighter 2 at the time, so, this was all I had when I was 6. Hard labor wasn't an option. Besides, I also had Megaman X to keep me company.

I did get that when you jumped off the crane about halfway through. I think it was the music.
I managed to fail that bit like 5 times xD Sort of lacked the punch it could have had by the time I was done with it. I wish they'd have made that intro playable, where she runs across the billboard and leaps onto the crane, then slides all the way down.
