Have you ever had one of those moments during the day that you know without a doubt is going to stop you from sleeping later that night?

The reason I ask is because that basically just happened to me, and this is the first time that I've really noticed that it happened. There have been times in the past this has happened, where later that night I would be like: "Called it" (Bit of an empty victory), but this is the first time I've actually identified the idea.

So Escapist, has this ever happened to you?

As in...can't sleep excited or can't sleep scared?
The former happens every Christmas.
The latter happens all the time sometimes.

More probably, I've misunderstood the topic. If so I will edit this so that all the people who think I'm wrong will look like fools!

On which note, I am the KING of over-analysis and fretting.

Yup. Far too many things stop me from sleeping at night because I over-analyse everything, but it's something I've got used to.
You and I, my good friend, sound awfully similar. Give me back my body!

On topic: Oh yes, plenty of things keep me awake at night. One of them being how I'm always right. In my life, I've never been wrong about anything other than how long to put in a microwave meal for. It gets particularly annoying when I announce something depressing, then it happens to me later that day.

Having re-read the thread, I'm talking out of my rear passage. I've never exactly just thought "I won't sleep tonight" unless something has provoked it.

No! It's mine! It's always be mine! You stole it from me!
Silence clone! You're nothing but a carbon-copy, the creation of damned men!

Don't listen to him Escapists, he'll do anything to make you believe he is the real me! Pull the trigger damn you! He's plotting to end the world! Don't you hear that beeping? Tell me you hear the beeping?!

I should probably mention, the main cause of this for me is fretting over things that I can't control, while being under the impression that I can control them.

Not sure if it's worse that I just do it, or the fact I know about it, and it still kicks my arse every single time.

Couldn't get to sleep a few nights ago because I thought up of a superhero fighting team...Who aren't really superhero's but I thought how they would fail would be funny.

this pretty much happens every night this summer, i tell myself that ill go to bed in a few minutes but then i see a new forum or start watching a different video or my friend calls me up and ask if he wants to play some online, and before i know it its about three hours later. Two days ago i stayed up till 7:00 watching One Piece on Hulu, yeah my parents were pissed.

Usually when I'm sad, I stop being sad and start being awesome. (Cookies for reference)

I do have trouble quietening my mind at nights though. Sometimes I skip sleeping so I can sleep the next day.

You can't kill me when I'm you!
You're clever, I'll give you that, but my adversaries always fall. If I can't kill you because you're me, then I'll kill myself because you're me! How do you like that Mr. Fargo?!

I lose a lot of sleep due to random acts of thought, usually about the weirdest things.

Occasnally I think up ideas for Escapist threads and I say to myself "I'll post it tomorrow." However when the morning comes, I've forgotten what my idea was, it's really annoying.

It's the only way to stop me, I suppose that's your only choice.

You over-analyse everything too?! That's awesome to find someone else who does that!

OT: It's happened once or twice, but I can't remember what I was thinking about.

Although I didn't sleep when I first saw the slenderman video. Creepy...as...fuck!

Get ready to meet your end, my brother. *Casts Auto-Life*

You know what? I think we've ruined this thread enough already. We will continue this battle some other time. The Strumpets are always watching.

Yup, totally. Like tonight, the Perseid meteor shower will be across all of the Northern Hemisphere. That's me not going to sleep!

Otherwise, no. I distract myself by reading before I go to sleep every night so I am not thinking about anything serious/important/emotional.

Happened to me the first time I was attacked by a BloodSucker in Shadow of Chernobyl.

The first one that jumped out at me left me jumping at shadows and in desperate need of new underwear.

Judging by these comments it seems that everyone on the Escapist has the same problem I do: thought. Thinking ruins everything...

I tend to leave the radio on really low, on a news station or something, just so I have something to think about other than whatever failures I had brought about myself the previous day...

Usually if I have an embarrassing moment or am afraid that I upset someone it stops me from sleeping for months. I kind of obsess over things...
