I never really watched Western movies until about 3 weeks ago. Now I can't get enough and usually watch 1 per day minimum.

My favorite directer is Clint Eastwood, so needless to say I started watching all of his older films which I had never seen before.

After that I watched No Country for Old Men, and a few other big name films like Dances with Wolves and 3:10 to Yuma.

My question for this thread is what Westerns would you recommend to me? I usually don't like to watch old films since graphics, acting, and just cinematography has come a long way in these recent years. That said most Westerns were shot a long time ago, and I realize in order to truly understand the genre there are going to be some must see old films. So recommend some to me or others if you would like.

Any western with JOhn Wayne in it. Sure they're a bit older but John Wayne is the master of the cowboy film. If you don't wanna go that far back then I say The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

Once upon a Time in the West. Seriously, go watch it, one of, if not the best Westerns ever made imo. I just watched it again last week, and it was just as awesome as the first time I saw it.

Silverado was good in my opinion, although I've been waiting for a long time for someone to tell me that it sucked.

Thanks, i'm making a list. Checking it twice. Gonna found out which are good and nice.

Wyatt Urp, For a Fistful of dollars, For a few Dollars More, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, and Hang Em High. If you don't see the last 4, you're a communist.

Not alot of selection for modern westerns due to the fact they fell heavily out of favor due to lack of product placement ability.

Some of the better more recent ones come from the small resurgence of westerns in the 90s thanks to the sucess of young guns, Titles like tombstone, unforgiven, the quick and the dead, wyatt erp. If you can find it, Dead man with Johnny depp, though it might not fit what your looking for.

When I said I had watched almost all of Clint Eastwood's movies, I was trying to say I have seen his movies so don't recommend them. I knew people would recommend the Unforgiven since it's such a great movie, but i've seen it.

I'm downloading Bad company, high plains drifter, and the shootist tonight. If I love any of them I will buy them outright like I always do.
