Hey, good luck OP. You should probably make sure that you find another way to entertain yourself on rainy days though, or else in a few months you'll get that "hmm, a few hours of Bioshock Infinite couldn't hurt..." feeling. Keep a bunch of good books handy or something.
Yeah, I think some people are personally offended that their favorite medium of entertainment is being treated like an addiction. Or maybe they're just a bit addicted to it and don't want to admit it...Arontala said:
It ultimately comes down to balancing your life which is definitely easier said than done. If gaming consumes too much of your time and is somewhat of an addiction then maybe purging it entirely is a good idea.

17 and already in college? That seems early to me, considering I'm turning 17 in just a month.

I'm guessing (and a check to his profile confirms) that he's from the U.K. Their "college" is more-or-less, kinda/sorta equivalent to the U.S.'s "high school."sabercrusader said:

I'm in university/college/whatever you want to call it for a few years, have been insanely busy all of those years, have had some major life crises during that time... but I always try to make a bit of time for gaming. It relaxes me, and happens to be my major stress-reliever, and one of my favorite hobbies. I don't know if just deleting everything is the best idea. What was the point of deleting all your saves? Surely that was just making all the time you spent on games beforehand was even more of a waste of time than you made out.
I would recommend contacting a mod to give you a ban so if you ever are tempted to come back you can't do anything, just something common I've seen happen and is understandable.StarStruckStrumpets said:

I sometimes get this feeling, but realistically if I gave up gaming, I would just replace it with something else useless like TV or reading more than I already do. Not to say gaming is completely useless or anything, I mean I' soon starting a game design course, but you probably get my point.
I did not know you but I can relate. I've had myself suspended from this site many times to get myself on task to do university work, to motivate myself to find work or to focus my creative energies on one thing. As for gaming I get the addiction. I've given my games to a friend and actually paid him to keep them until I could show him proof of having completed the final project I needed to finish to get my documentary certificate.
I'm trying to improve my willpower. I hope to be able to tear myself away from my entertainment without resorting to such measures in the future. I do not however consider my time wasted. Life is way too short to not enjoy yourself. I will never delete my saves intentionally. I do hope that you can find balance in your life to allow for both your gaming and the rest of your life to work together. As for this site? We'll be here if/when you come back.

You should really just reevaluate whats important to you. If you love gaming, KEEP DOING IT! I know where you're coming from, believe me. In high school my grades were shit because of my gaming and pretty much playing 8-10 hours a day. Then college started and I had this mentallity that once it started i'd just stop playing as much. Hell no, I had to force myself to sotp playing so much until I was down to 1-2 hours a day (sometimes I don't play at all).
If you have the power to delete all your saves, you have the power to force yourself to play less. And not everyone needs to study for tests, I never did. I read book n shit once and got the grade that I got, but i'm lazy as balls so don't listen to me about college grades n stuff

If you devote your life to completely avoiding something that controlled your life than that thing still controls your life and you've never learned any discipline at all...All or nothing is easy but learning to play a little bit, responsibly...that's discipline.
