There is nothing wrong with whaling if they aren't killing endangered whale species then let them whale in peace. I don't understand why whales are so much holier then other species.
Besides international waters and if the Australian navy would do something it could be seen as an act of war.
Endangered whale species? They're not exactly a renewable resource. Whaling is illegal these days to begin with, regardless of international waters. Piracy on IW is still a prosecutable offence, as is any other crime. I'm no animal rights activist, I would lose limbs for bacon, but working tirelessly to destroy living things seems massively cruel to me. There's no major market for the produce anymore, just corrupt and wealthy people wanting to profit from an illegal activity. Your second point on the navy is very valid.

I apologise for this rant-ish post. I'll leave you to be incredibly blase and ignorant "in peace"...
Whaling isn't illegal everywhere Japan and Iceland still hunt whales and they are tasty.

They should hire somalian pirates to show them what real pirating is like these days. They dont throw stink bombs, they throw grenades.

Hey, itll stop the whalers...

Sea Shepherds are just a bunch of eco terrorists, we should just ship them off to Gitmo.
Leave those whalers to make a living in peace without fear of attack.

I was rooting for the whalers during this entire season, I wanted to see them haul those guys asses off to Japan to face piracy charges (they did violate the international piracy laws by boarding a vessal illegally).

Here's the cold hard truth about the hostage issue. Per international Maritime law, a captain has every right to defend his vessel should he be boarded by a group he did not give permission. For example, an Admiral can board a vessel as a visitor, however, the captain, even if he is a Commander, has every right to run his ship how he sees fit and if need be, the right to remove the Admiral from the vessel. Our captain, a Commander has done this to a full-bird Captain before. While I am against whaling, I believe what the crew of the Irwin is doing can indeed be considered piracy, and believe the Japanese have the right to defend their ship as they do.
