I recently hooked up my xbox live and got an account so that I can play left 4 dead. I only have the headset that comes with the 360 and i don't really like it that much. I was wondering what peoples opinions were on the headset? what headset do you use? what kind should i buy when i get a new one? which will hopefully be soon.

The one out of the box - its cheap and easy to use - any others are a big waste of money.

Well I use the wired one because it is louder than the wireless, and I can buy 3 for the price of one wireless, which runs on a battery so eventually it will die. I can't believe I actually bought a wireless. bigger waste of 60 bucks than Fable 2.

Personally I love the headset that comes with the 360. I've tried the wireless one but it just didn't feel right. I don't have much experience with 3rd party stuff so i can't give you a honest opinion on those.

The wireless one works nice if you willing to pay $50-60 for it. Although if your as lazy as I am, then you might want to keep your old mike somewhere where you won't forget it if you forget to charge it.

i dont like the 360 headset either, but its the stock one. Nothing much you can do about it, and is perfect for casual gaming. no need to go out of your way for a better one, but it

Turtle beaches are nice ones that run between 50-60, which offer surround sound.

I have 240$ astro headsets which is insanely overpriced, but is the best one out on the market. That was back when i was into competitive gaming, but the sound quality is superb, and offers for a lot of things to be done, including using it as a pc, ps3 mic, listening to music, turning the volume up and down for separate things, and so on.

But then again, youre just playing left 4 dead, so i would just keep the ones you own.

I use the one that came with the 360, and I like it, but that's just me. I have a friend that bought one of the Motorola "Madden" style headsets, and he likes it. Its only drawback is that it can make your ear really hot under the giant speaker portion.

If the regular headset was 9.99 here i'd consider staying with it. but up here it runs for 29.99. The store i work at i could get a turtle beach ear force x1 headset. it looks pretty cool and i like the fact that i can play all night without disturbing anybody with it. My reasoning for this one is also the price because with my discout i could get it for 60 taxes included. I assume that it's twice as good as the regular one therefore my purchase would be justified. Plus im sure it would much longer. I'm not set on that one though and i'm still considering looking around for others

Currently I'm using the wired headset that came with my 360.

I've had two wireless headsets die on me within one month. I don't usually say this, but:
Don't bother.

For a mild increase in sound quality, and the convenience of being able to walk around without dragging the controller behind you, it's not worth the aggravation. If you get one you will almost certainly have it die on you eventually. They're as notorious as the 360 itself that way.

It does take a little while to get used to...hell, I spent a good couple minutes figuring out how to put the damned thing on when I first got it. :)

I prefer the wireless, because of the non-tethered aspect, the fact that it doesn't pinch the left side of my head, and that the mike part is far enough from my mouth that I can drink something easily without brushing it. But after getting a new Elite with the warranty money from my defunct console, the wired is perfectly fine to use if my wireless runs out of power during a session.

I've had the wireless since August, and it has seen rather heavy use so far.

I bought the official wireless headset for a massively reduced price and it's brilliant. Mainly because i can play for hours on end without any annoying pressure on the side of my head. Piece of cake to charge and control volume, and the sound's a little crisper too. If you have the extra cash to flash it's worth a look.

i use the one from the box. it works, it's free with the console, and it doesn't require extra power.

also, for the paranoid amongst you, the wired one isn't going to irradiate your skull+brain
