I can't feel fear. In it's place i feel apathy, and any attempt to frighten me is futile. I can still be startled on a rare occasion, but the feeling fades quickly. this all started when I determined that fear was illogical, and i lost all fear. I don't understand this loss of fear, but it's just not there anymore. Without fear, I don't feel as human as i did before.

so, I am trying to figure out what people fear, and why, so that I can understand why I can't be afraid.

TL;DR: What are you afraid of, and why?

EDIT: I really miss horror movies, and horror games.

Severe mental illness.

That is what terrifies me more than anything else. I appreciate being able to think as well and clearly as I can, and losing that is the scariest thing I can think of.

Any kind of permanent handicap that renders me dependent on others. I pride myself on independence, and having that taken away would kill me inside.

Planes falling and kill me when they fly overhead and make that really loud noise, trucks falling over and killing me when we both turn a sharp corner, and girders falling from the ceiling of a building and killing me when I'm standing underneath them.

Also waking up blind and not knowing if people are gonna punch me in the dick.

If it passes the internet dies, I already started a thread about it, and I am scared out of my mind right now... hold me.

Oh, and republican presidential candidates. Terrifying.

I am afraid of . . . . .FORUMS! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

OT: I fear the stupidity of people that lust after power. Politicians that say we "need" to have something but won't let us take a good, long look at what the IT is.

People that want power that badly, cause the hair on the back of my neck to stand up.

People I love getting hurt, or- worse- being hurt either by me or through my inaction. Nothing else really scares me. Some stuff can make me wary or nervous, sure, but that's my only real fear.

Loss of self or loss of control over myself.
But to a degree it is more anxiety, which I would consider different.
I'd say fear is, largely, a function of avoiding potentials for pain or other negative results.

Falling from great heights, you know, because they will kill ya.

Plus being constrained, I like my personal space and freedom of movement.

I fear flying. (in an airplane)

This can probably be traced to a fear of crashing into a mountain or the ocean, and then dying.
I generally leave claw marks on the armrests when I do have to fly.

I have no fears per se but i have some irrational ideas that make me feel a little anxious.

Like, there has never been, in my life, conclusive proof that things like ghosts and monsters exist. However, it's always my first irrational conclusion when i hear a strange noise or see an unusual event.

For example; if an axe wielding psychopath attacks me in my home, i know many different ways of how to incapacitate or kill that attacker.

If it's a ghost, how do i fight that? Knowing full well that there probably is no such thing as a ghost.

The thing I fear the most is never getting married and living alone. I know that sounds kinda lame but hear me out.
To me People are the most important parts of life, possessions break or get replaced, money just serves as a means of getting possessions, power equates responsibility and I have a hard enough time being responsible for myself, ideas are important but how could they be more important than the people who came up with them.
And I am currently at a place in my life where the people I know are starting to drift away. All my friends are going to different colleges, and creating their own lives, soon enough they will get married and the more they develop themselves as individuals the less room I have in their lives. I'm not jealous, its just that the thought that someday we won't be able to get together on a Friday evening and hang out depresses me.

All I see in my future is loneliness- unless I find someone to share my life with. I have been in that lonely place before and I would rather be crippled or blind, or face a horrible painful death than live the rest of my life alone. That keeps me up at night in a way that monsters and horror movies never have.

As for this....

I don't know what to say. Internal conflicts are the worst kind, I have had more than my fair share. If you want to talk about it in more detail you can PM me, I am always willing to listen.
