At risk of bringing everyone out of the woodwork to tell me I shouldn't be having fun with Final Fantasy 13, I've still been having fun with Final Fantasy 13. Just finished Chapter 10 and made it to the start of the so-called "good part", though honestly I've been invested enough to see the game through since Chapter 7. Not much to say that I haven't at this point, though, other than that Hope is definitely my favorite party member. He's grown up a lot, and his defensive buffs have gotten me through several tough fights on the first try where a faster, riskier team wouldn't work.

Don't know how much of the game is actually left, but I've heard that Chapter 11 takes up most of the game, so I probably won't post any more updates until I'm through to Ch12.

If you enjoy the game, there is nothing wrong with that. I hate FF XIII, but I never hated those that love the game and enjoy the story or characters.

I'm not gonna tell you that you're wrong because you're enjoying it. I personally really wanted to like it and felt very disappointed with it but I'm glad you're getting your time and money out of it.

I felt like playing a shooter instead, so I started the BioShock remaster. According to Steam, I haven't played the game since at least 2013, so I think it is a good time to give it another whirl.

The FPS mechanics are obviously dated, but it is at least competent. I had a lot of trouble juggling all of the different weapons and plasmids with the mouse wheel/number keys, but then I discovered the button to pause time whilst I picked a gun. Much easier.

The atmosphere is still incredible, and I love the little details in each area.

Its a good time!

EDIT, and I cannot believe that I completely forgot to mention this: the hacking mini-game sucks. I hope whichever game developer thought it up, and whoever else looked at it and OK'd it, stubs their toe or something. Fuck that mechanic.

Im so happy that the industry has collectively moved on from stupid hacking minigames.

I played it when it first came out. Ryan's scene is the high point and everything after that is a sharp decline in even caring why you're still here. I've yet to replay it or play Bioshock 2.

It doesn't help they put in an escort quest because....I have no fucking idea why someone decided that was the best use of your time and wasted the entire idea of You becoming a big daddy.

I agree that the encounter with Andrew Ryan was the high-point of the game, but while the subsequent fight with... the end boss isn't as brilliant, it still had its moments. I especially liked how the end boss mentioned to have never used plasmids as not to get addicted, but come the player, the end boss does it an, yeah, seemed WAY too much into it.

And im not really digging it. We got about half-way through the first episode, before she fell asleep, which I guess is telling.

We quite liked the original Life is Strange game, but this prequel feels wholly unnecessary, because the original story already told me just about everything that I needed to know about Chloe and Rachel, and im not sure what else this game is going to do, to really add anything. Besides, we never really got on with Chloe in the first game, and we both thought that she was just super annoying - so a game that focuses entirely on her as the main character, isn't exactly putting its best foot forward.

Otherwise its okay, but nothing has really happened or engaged us, yet. She had a rave, had a fight with her mum/step-dad, and is now at school. Not exactly thrilling stuff, just yet.

We'll see how it goes. Hopefully it picks up.

I haven't played Before the Storm but like you I played the original LiS and yeah, it was hard to put up with Chloe after awhile. Chloe makes poor choices, Sam has to bail her out with her time power. And then the choice at the end which the game practically tells you which is the Correct one kinda cements that.

Playing Lichtspeer. A Polish game that does for Germanic mythology what Canada's Guacamelee did for Mexican folklore. They're both very tongue in cheek and even feature the same unshaded, textureless cubist aesthetic.

It's a very simple 2D tower defense game where you stand in a corner chucking laser spears at wave after wave of rushing baddies. You get 2 special attacks and 1 defensive power, each with their cooldowns and upgrades, and that's your lot. Starts simple enough but then quickly ramps the difficulty by demanding more precision while overwhelming you with enemy types and super conceited weak spots.

The next gen update for Uncharted lost legacy of thieves bundle arrived with a dealio pretty alright for an owner of only one of the last-gen games, as it's a tenner for both of them either way. Very smooth playable stuff. High framerate doth excite come setpiece times. Kinda weirded out there's no animals in these games though, never noticed that before.

It sorta came with a free movie ticket to see the brand new uncharted in cinemas too. Which, to be frank, I have no desire to submit myself to. And am too ashamed to even ask anyone I know if they wanna join in on a most likely shite and cringy videogame adaptation, with the added caveat of it's only a single ticket, so pay the fuck up, tight-arse!
Not sure if it's country restricted, but if anyone on here wants the ticket when it arrives, and if it is usable elsewhere, am happy to send it somewhere it'll not be wasted. It may be ultimately UK restricted though, just a heads up.

It kind of reminds me of Far Cry 3.

Just ascended a 9 conduct Monk in Nethack. It was a long and heartwrenching journey, but I made it. I should have did it two weeks ago, but I underestimated Pestilence (for the second time in my life, what is wrong with me?) and died right at the end, and also lost two games because I stupidly blew up my bag of holding. But I've finally done it now. The conducts were: weaponless, vegan+vegetarian, wishless+artifact wishless, genocideless, atheist, polyselfless, and polypileless.

Hmm, that might work. I still have no good weapons though and overwatch tends to kinda suck in the new xcom games.

Just finished BioShock, and that game just kind of... ends.

You beat the final boss, there is a quick 1 minute cutscene, and then the credits roll.

Weirdly scripted, for sure.

Overall, it was nice revisiting this game, but it definitely does take a turn for the worse after Andrew Ryan.

Now debating if I want to try out BioShock 2 again, because I haven't played that one for about as long.

Just tried that. Did not work. Its even stupider that when the thing binds you, its action does more damage to your guys and it can just use its ice breath to freeze people. The alien rulers are dumb and stupid and meant for at least mid game, not early game.
