Mostly my own mind. Partly boredom. Mostly to escape from being so down all the time. Escaping worries about my future. Escaping the worry that my family will become homeless in a couple of months. Escaping the sadness I feel when I see rejection letter after rejection letter. Escaping the weird feeling I get - whenever something good or fantastic happens I feel sad and depressed about it later. Escaping the fact that I've not played piano for a couple of years, it meant a hell of a lot to me, 11 years of playing then suddenly it's cut off from me. It bothers me on a daily basis.

Quite a few things all in all. But also I just love this place.

Boredom usually, or simply because I want to spend time here even if I could be doing something else.

Somewhat related, I used to be addicted to WoW because I was trying to escape a toxic relationship with my ex. That was no fun D:

My shitty pointless, meaningless existance, in which I am currently faced with the very real and immediate possibility of homelessness and starvation in the coming months due to not being able to get a job... and having nothing left to sell, and living in the spare room of people who are due to move soon, combined with having nowhere else to stay...

Boredom I guess but in saying so I spend most of my free time playing GW2 these days. However before that it was boring as hell since I had little cash (I got a job now), no live tv channel on my tv and I own a Wii (I had so many game droughts).

Manly tears every time I watch that scene.
Oh gods, don't. A friend of mine started the series on Kingdom Hearts II and hated Sora for essentially 'killing off' Roxas just when she'd grown attached to him. That guy's had it rough.

OT:

Boredom here. I'm waiting for the results of an interview, while saving up for a course, while deciding on a career, while planning for the future. Right now is just a stepping stone to better things, but it's still a boring grey stone to be on in the first place.

People. People. People.

And mundane reality.

Sometimes I play to escape, sometimes I play because it's stimulating and fun. Mostly the latter. It's only aimless escapism about a quarter of the time.

I'm escaping from the mundanity of everyday existence, the ignorance, stupidity and hatred of people and the boredom of an extended holiday period.

My social ife, or lack there of. I mean, I have plenty of people I consider friends, but I really, really don't like leaving my house to do anything. I honestly only leave if it's mandatory to do so. (School, practices, stuff like that)

Work, which is where I am right now, and people, because they expect me to talk and I generally don't know what to say. Here, I can sit quietly and watch what's going on, and no one really expects me to contribute much.

The limitations of the real world. I hate the fact that some things can never be in the real world. At least here, or when I'm playing games, I can forget about those things.

Mostly the amount of work I have to do for my classes. It feels like it is going to be a tough semester.

My school is alright, I have friends, good family, and am generally happy. That^, though, is my only problem. It never nags at me most of the time, but still, a steel post is all I have, so horaay for games and this site!

I'm escaping from having to wait so long to get back to college. The Debt caught up really fast and now I have to wait till I pay some off before I can go back. This is a long boring process and... ooo! The internet! ~distracted~

people i can't relate to.

i am pretty sure most of you feel the same way. i am kind of an outcast i my Society cause i am different from most the other. the escapist is the only forum please where i like to be. you are all civilized, you're intellectual, you're funny and you have good debating arguments. i really like the escapist for that. we work as a team even if we never met each other or know each other. we don't always agree but we solve those problems in an adult and civilized manner
