What are you favorite sounding instruments?

Bar the human voice? Either the violin, or the piano. In general the violin's better for me, but the piano spikes higher.

Probably the hang drum, but getting one is impossible. The company who make them (a european couple) will only make then by special selection. You then have to travel to them to give your imput into the hang's construction. The pair who make them sound like real hipster ass hats as well. They refer to their workshop as a "church of music" and themselves as "mother and father of the hang". Still credit where credit's due. They sound fantastic and look like a lot of fun to play.

OT: Yes, I agree with the cello-voters because of the emotion that can be drawn from solos and the diversity of sound you can get from the instrument.

However, just to be different:

Pompous answer - there is no purer instrument than the human voice! *arrogant sniff*

Serious answer - since I haven't seen anyone answer with this instrument, I'll go for it: the harpsichord. Dunno why, just love it, maybe because I was raised on baroque and chamber music.

But then, I go through phases, and I periodically enjoy the trumpet, organ, piano, flute, oboe and violin. *shrug*
