I am currently reading through my random collection of dragon books. On my table right now is the young reader's book, "Here There be Dragons". Next I shall be reading either the next Timothy Zahn "Dragon Back" book, the rest of the "Dragon Champion" series, or the fourth Naomi Novik "Temeraire" book.

Aside from anything written by Naomi Novik, the others would probably not be the top in one's best interest unless they have a particular liking for large, flying, anthropomorphic lizards.

Most of my other books are from independent authors I meet at random conventions. It's a whole new game when it comes to that sort of expensive endeavor. Twenty-five percent of the independent books I buy are absolutely terrible, and most of the rest are only moderately okay. I don't get what it is with new authors and their urge to write bible-length D&D trilogies. Even so, there is that small percentage of independent books that are absolute gems, something better and far more fresh than anything I could pick up at a library or book store, so it is worth it in the end.

Sadly, I could not honestly recommend any good independent books at this time. Not only would they be hard to find, but also expensive.

Robert Heinlein wrote some good science fiction books, though the latter ones are much better than his first few. Keep in mind that these are old books.

If you're looking for something more recent, the "Saga of Seven Sons" is a good place to read.

Who doesn't have a love for large, flying, anthropomorphic lizards? You just can't not like them.

That said, have you read "The Dragon Prince" series by Melanie Rawn? Perhaps my favorite books of all time.

I don't believe I have, though I should check my collection later to make sure. My future post or edit of this one to admit my reading of the book is not guaranteed.

And I don't know; I've read some bad dragon books. Reading the second Eragon novel was like trying to surgically remove a tumor from my eyes with a used butter knife. There are some dragon-loving nobody authors out there with a larger talent for washing dishes at the local eatery than writing.

I haven't had a chance to visit a book store in a while, but I get my copy of Atlas Shrugged tomorrow. I also just finished rereading Shadow of the Hegemon, which is a very good book.

I too need to get "Atlas Shrugged". For you college students out there, there's a scholarship from the Ayn Rand Institute for $10,000 if you win an essay contest based on "Atlas Shrugged".

Win monies! [http://www.aynrand.org/site/PageServer?pagename=education_contests_atlas]

I just finished reading The Fifth Elephant by Terry Pratchet which was pretty good but not one of my favorites of his.

I'm now in kind of an odd mood and am trying to decide between Cosmic Trigger by Robert Antoine Wilson or The Illuminatus! Trilogy by Robert Antoine Wilson.

Robert Antoine Wilson is the perfect author for odd moods.

Just finished The Stars My Destination and have moved onto the Elric collections and I am Legend (I bought it and started before I heard of the movie so I'm not on the bandwagon, I swear![/I]).

I read those two months ago, and once I recommended them on a thread, more people are reading them. There's a great book called 'Day by Day Armeggedon' by J.L. Bourne. More zombie fiction for you zombie-lovers out there.

Edit: Sorry for double post

Terry Pratchett once again

he has so many books i can read them in a cycle and never get bored.

seriously, i can open one of his books, for the 30th time, and still find it brilliant, even though i can close my eyes and recite it.
