At this point, I'm reading a lot of Philippa Gregory; I am just starting The Queen's Fool and then The Virgin's Lover is waiting for me. Also, a few mushy romance novels (The Battle Sylph and The Vampire and the Virgin to name a pair), a few random manga my mom picked up at the recommendation of my girlfriend (I have my doubts), and am hoping to dive back into The Stand by Stephen King and follow that up with The Shining. Also, searching for the second novel in the comic series Greek Street.

Counter strike player! Shun! Shun!

Shooter by Jack Coughlin. I read mostly non fiction, I'm just re reading this book because I don't know what else to read.

I'm also reading The Great Gatsby, which is about as entertaining as watching those new sunchip bags bio degrade.

Oh the usual. Tv guides, video game manuals, backs of cereal boxes.

That and i've got a huge pile of books getting bigger and bigger...
At the moment though i just started King Soloman's Mines by M. Rider Haggard, after that though i'll go onto Without Remorse by Tom Clancy, or Catch-22/Atlas Shrugged, just to say that i've read them.
But they'll probably take a while longer, since i just ordered some W40K books from amazon, along with Purgatory and Paradise, and Roadside Picnic in the original russian.
It's a slow process...

actually planning to stop by Borders tomorrow morning (really the only place to buy books around these parts...pity) Not sure what I'm going to get, but a few things (world war z, necronomicon, the other 3 halo books and the mass effect novel with saren on the cover..revelation?)

So whatever I get tomorrow will be on the list, but at the moment I've been reading the occasional story from "Just After Sunset" by Stephen King. Pretty good. "Hearts In Atlantis" was still miles better, though.

I'm reading one of the most well thought out books ever made. It is none other than 1984 by George Orwell. It is the origin of the term Big Brother. Check dat shizz out.

So a few months back.. this crazy thing happened to me. To save some money, my dad decided it would be a good idea to switch to a different internet provider. Unfortunately, there were a bunch of problems with our modem and existing router, and my room was left without internet. What am I supposed to do without my 4 hours of CounterStrike? I probably have addiction problems, but that's not the point here.

Along with a few other lifestyle changes that came, the most prominent one that we're going to discuss is reading. I decided to read all the books people had given me in the past few months, after looking over them for more instantaneous gains like headshots. A handful of classics like 1984 and The Catcher in the Rye, along with some contemporary stuff like House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski and Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk.

It's the best. I've become obsessed with reading.

After logging some hours on CounterStrike when my internet connection came back around, I felt like I was wasting time more than ever. Not that I ever thought video games really gave me anything other than quick reaction times and caffeine tolerance. Reading is a good time, for sure.

Before you bash CounterStrike, I don't give a shit.

What are you reading?
Currently nothing, as I have read most of the book of my collection (which is quite big).
But may I suggest a pair of books?
The Bartimaues Trilogy (best novels I have read so far), LOTR, The Hobbir, The first 6 boks of Chronicles of Narnia (they are far better than the movies, however the 7th book isn't that good), Goblet of Fire and Deathly Hallows from Harry Potter (best books of the entire series, the rest aren't good, but you need to read them if you expect to understand them, and yes, they are better than the movies) Northern Lights (it's the first book of the trilogy, the rest however, aren't that good. 2nd was quite good actually, but not as much as the first one, and the 3rd one, well, it was crap in comparison). I also have many books, but I cannot remember them all.
The Bartimaeus Trilogy I recommend wholeheartedly. It's the best Trilogy that I have read ever. 2nd book wasn't as good as the others, but it was still excellent. Also a graphic novel of the books is coming, the first book graphic is going to be released around Novbember in the UK, and also a 4th book is in development, and it's going to be released in October in the UK and November in the USA.

Also cheers for your new interest. There are some games that I like so much like books, namely the Silent Hill series and Half Life, they have excellent story. Check them out if you would like something like that. Also I recommend System Shock 2. Note that I'm recommending Singleplayer games that have great stories.

Anyway, CHEERS!!!!!!!!!!

Well holy crap, that's my current reading target as well, having just finished re-re-reading Starship Troopers by Robert Heinlein and volume one of the definitive edition of Queen and Country by Greg Rucka. Restaurant at the End of the Universe is on the list after that.

I'm trying to get back into reading so I can get back into writing. I was a book-devouring monster all through grade school, but it was gradually replaced by game-devouring as I got older. When I discovered the internet, well, that was pretty much that. Hard to reverse course and get back into non-interactive print, but hopefully it will be a good thing for getting my own creative work back on track (read as: done at all).

I'm re-reading Exiles: The Mageborn Traitor by Melanie Rawn. Agh, I'm so close to running out of reading material in the house. Thank god my other books are in the garage. I need more.

I may re-read Nymphos of Rocky Flats and X-Rated Bloodsuckers (no, really, these are books by a CO author named Mario Acevedo).

Currently reading this Count Zero [http://www.voidspace.org.uk/cyberpunk/gibson_countzero.shtml]

It's a cyberpunk by Wiliam Gibson. The man creates a vast and complex futuristic world. The whole thing is riddled with punctuation and spelling errors, yet i cant stop reading it. It combines future tech with Voodoo. As a SF fan this stuff is to me as what Ghost in the Shell was when i got into Anime.

I bought a lot of books this month so they've all piled up and I'm half way through reading most of them.
Branded - Gotta read this for school
The Hell of It - World view refining
Dawn of the Dumb - Same as above
EVE: The Burning Life - Sci-Fi goodness
Dude, Where's my Country - Micheal Moore (Need I say more?)
Plague Wars - Educational stuff about Bio-warfare, for fun.

Ive just finished reading the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. They took a bit to get into, but after the final book, your left wanting for more. They are really really good.

I completely agree, gotta love the Dark Tower. Right now I'm into the Dresden Files and after those I will be hitting the last couple of books in the Shadow of Ender series.
