It by Stephen King. So far it's pretty good, but I'm still not anywhere near done or even halfway.
Yes, that is a massive book. Over 1200 pages if I remember rightly so.
Probably one of his best, but it will take you a whole to finish it.
Enjoying it so far?

Atlus shrugged, but I've kind of been distracted from it so haven't been making much progress. I need a shorter, less drawn out and slow book to read.
I'm reading We the Living, its also by Ayn Rand and about 700 pages shorter, very good book.

The Naked Sun by Isaac Asimov.
As with every other book by him it is amazing.
I've been looking to get into Asimov but I can''t find a good place to start.
I've been reading some issues of his old sci-fi magazine and the little short stories of his I've quite liked.
Is the foundation series a good place to start or is there another more accessible place to start? I quite like his writing, but i haven't read much of it annd I don't want to buy foundation if I won't understand it, possibly due to previous works references or something else.

Hello Escapees, Just wondering what books you guys and girls are reading right now?

I finished off the third Horus Heresy book the other day and decided to take a break from it, so I picked up The Road and am totally loving it, depressing but awesome at the same time.
Roadside Picnic by Boris and Arkady Strugatsky.

I've only really started reading it in the last day or so, but so far I'm engrossed.
Where'd you buy it? I've been looking for it in a few bookstores and can't kind it, and I don't like buying books online because I don't know what shape they'll be in when they get to me.

I recently finished The Hobbit. Was going to move on to the Lord of the rings. It's more sitting on the shelf then me reading it though.
It was sitting on my bookshelf for about 7 years before I read it, and I regret not doing so sooner. Just don't be put off by the first two chapters, and don't expect it to be like The Hobbit; it is very different in both writing style and tone. I love it, although a lot of people here would say otherwise...

"John Dies At the End" by David Wong. Hilarious and brilliant. Also, "The Brothers Karamazov" by Fyodor Dostoyevsky.

Terry Pratchett's Thud! A frightening rel event story about religious intolerance.
I always thought Thud! was more about cultural and racial intolerance?

Anyway, I'm reading Brandon Sanderson's The Way of Kings and (if we can count paperback editions of comics) Season 8 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Planning to read The Iliad next.

Also, I've noticed a lot of people in here are reading books from The Horus Heresy. My interest in 40K has waned since the last one I read (Tales of Heresy, which had some cool stories), so I haven't bought any since, but I was wondering if the books released since that one are actually well-written or not. If they are, then I might consider picking some up.

Oh, and nice to see some Wheel of Time love here.

I'm reading Stieg Larsson's Millenium trilogy. Good stuff. I'm trying to get back into pleasure reading after years of boring academic texts from University.

Paradise Lost, again. Recently brought a brand new hardbook copy, and it's a gorgeous thing.

I read a lot of advanced literature when I was a kid, and Paradise Lost has always stuck as one of my favourites.

The new Cracked.com book.
I downloaded it onto my iPad and have been barreling through it the last few days. It's a fun read if anyone is looking for nothing too serious.

Hey, I just learned what that book series was today at Borders :D

I'm reading The Fires of Heaven, the 5th book in the Wheel of Time series, which I highly recommend to any fan of fantasy novels. I also picked up First Lord's Fury, the 6th(I think it was...) book in the Codex Alera series, which is also awesome and also highly recommended to any fantasy novel fans.

Well in theory you should be able to order the book from a Barns and Noble or something without putting down a deposit so that way you can see its condition first. I know thats how are bookstore does it.

I found a copy of Alice in Wonderland from a long time ago. I'm about to start reading it again.
