The Wheel of Time! They could make an awesome game in that setting.

Also the Mortal Engines setting could make an awesome steam/cyber-punk adventure game.

I don't know how well it aged, but from what i remember back then it was actually rather good with a interesting system of magic where you had to collect spell uses like ammo.

Maybe it's the Hennessy talking, but there's an awesome game set in the Abarat universe in my head right now. It's like the Elder Scrolls or KOTOR in style and structure, but the combat is pure Zelda. Come on people, let's put this thing into the world.

Redwall. Large battles, heavy bosses, large sweeping settings, multiple races, and conflicts spanning far and wide. Imagine playing a humble field mice from the Abbey of Redwall, or playing one of the hares of the Long Patrol, or even a badger lor from Salamandastron. Surely I can't be the only one who has thought it would make a great game adaptation. All the elements for it are there.
Wow. You just threw me into nostalgia- I used to go through the Redwall books like candy. This should be a game. Like you said, it had everything a game could possibly need.

Thinking back to other childhood stories-
I would like to see a game of "Scary Stories to tell in the Dark."
Including the horrifying art.

A game of Ender's Game could have potential, especially with the training and games- particularly the battle room and the virtual reality.
This. Ender's Game is a book I revist once every two years or so. I would give a good portion of my wallet to see it made into a proper Action/RPG game. Even if they set it as a "secondary" character, where you were not Ender/Bean/Petra/Ali, any of them, just another student at Battleschool, perhaps a little before the coming of the "Ender", it would still be an amazing setting.
I could see a game where you play as a member of the original Dragon Team, possibly making a plot twist out of the fact that the Dragon Army had always lost before simply being removed.

Or, if it was from Ender's POV, I would probably die from pure joy if they could merge Ender's Game and Speaker for the Dead (it wouldn't be too hard). I'd enjoy exploring Lusitania, solving the mystery of the villagers' deaths, fleeing from the piggies, etc.

(Sorry for the double post! Is there a way I can delete one?)

Hmm.

Well, I would say that i,Robot by Isaac Asimov (the actual book, not the film starting Will Smith) would make a pretty cool visual novel game.

In a nutshell, you would take the role of several different characters in the story (as the story shifts from different characters' perspective) as they interact with several different models of robots in the story. You would get choices as to how to interact and feel about the robots that you encounter and these interactions will effect the story and the overall ending you get.

For example, there is a part in the book where a robot has a dilemma about complementing a scientist's looks. As the Three Laws states, 1.) a robot cannot harm any humans, 2.) a robot must obey a human command, unless it conflicts with the first law, and 3.) a robot must defend itself from harm, unless it conflicts with the first two laws. Since being honest about the scientist's appearance can possibly hurt her feelings (emotional harm), the robot tries to avoid her, but since it is an order, it's difficult for it to refuse.

As the player, you can choose to speak to the robot and try to get it to understand the difference between intentional harm and honesty, in hopes that the robot will not commit suicide in order to avoid harming the scientist's feelings (Oh! Uh, spoiler alert!), or you can talk to the scientist in order phrase her words properly and eventually fix the issue for future models.

Basically, it's save one robot or sacrifice one in order to save thousands of other robots.
