Why do you have Vista on such a slow machine? Yes your laptop is bullshit, but Vista probably isn't doing you any favors either.

I suppose you could try Dawn of War or perhaps Minecraft?

Does Fallout 2 work on Vista? How about Planescape: Torment? If they do, then play those games immediately.

Have to recommend Morrowind as well. Also try Black and White 2. Your rig is very similar to mine, and I can play both on Maximum graphics with ease, so you should be able to as well.

You could always try Onlive http://www.onlive.com . Internet connection required though. It might be slowish with you being in Europe.

I'm planning on playing some older games myself like Fallout 1 & 2 , Painkiller and Beyond Good and Evil (not sure the two last ones you'll be able to play). All of them can be found on GOG.com

You might want to change to xp.

Basically, my laptop CAME with Vista on it.

I'd use onlive, I'm already a member and such but I'd like to think it'll get bigger and better support, everything it has out is avaliable on a console and looks so much better than it does on my laptop.

I'll be getting a new one at some point and at that point I might use it more

EDIT: Is there a cost-free way of downgrading, will I have to wipe my computer or whatever I'm not exactly a PC-whiz?

You should have no problems playing pretty much any game from http://www.gog.com/en/frontpage/

Personally, I recommend the Fallout-games, Baldur's Gate, Painkiller(Worked on an even crappier laptop I might add), Planescape Torment, XIII and the Heroes of Might & Magic-games.

I think Dawn of War could work too. I know I've played it on much worse.
I would also recommend gta-San Andreas.
The original Fallouts.

Take the time out to play the first two of the Fallout Series:

You'll get a chance to see what all of the fuss was about.
I support this wholeheartedly.

You'll need to reformat your harddrive with an xp-disk. But before that you need to be sure xp-drivers are available for your laptop.
If you feel uncomfortable about all this you might want to ask someone more tech-savvy.

Thanks for the advice, I'll do a bit more research and see what I can do
