After watching a very related TED talk I have decided to post this question to the escapist community.
What can you do with a paper clip?

You can grab a ring from under a grate.
You can make an electrical switch.
If the clip is made of coal you can burn it for heat.

If you've got a decent paperclip and a rubber band, you can make a paperclip-bow. You'd be surprised at how far and hard they can shoot.

Of course for ammunition you can use sharpened matches or the likes. Whatever sharp small object you've got handy.

I bend it around my finger as many times as possible. My record is 3. I have big fingers...

I saw that TED talk, good on you for watching TED

you can make a bunch into a cheap necklace,
bend it around and make miniature art deco pieces,
clip paper,
make it into a tiny projectile with a rubber band,
use it like a mini football and flick it between your friends goal posted fingers
unbend it, and use it to poke questionable materials
do a hard reset on a tamogatchi
poke tiny holes in things
pick locks

(I know the TED talk said how you should change your perception of what constitutes a paperclip, but in the interest of fairness I didn't think of that when I saw the video, so I won't use it now.)

Admit it! You stole that idea from Gizmo the Mogwai in Gremlins 2: The new Batch. :p

Also, I've heard that MacGuyver can do pretty much anything with a paper-clip. He could build a nuclear powerplant with one if he needed to.

I always looked at paper clips as the little turners for attaching string or the like to. And then, as you turn the paper clip, the string wraps around it.

And so easy to make!

You can turn it into a potentially lethal weapon that can be used in a police report.

yeah... there's a story involved in that one that I dont want to talk about since its not my story to tell.

Other then that... mmm.. you can make art out of them. If I had a pic, I'd show you, but a girl I know in college is using them in her abstract art class thats actually pretty good.

What I've done with a paper clip...

An electrical jumper.
To set off a poorly placed mouse trap.
To open a locked door.
To clean stir a small bottle of paint.
To pin two pieces of metal I was going to glue together so they would stay better.
To hold paper together.
Protest people reenlisting in the military.(P.A.P.E.R. C.L.I.P.) - People against people ever reenlisting civilian life improvement program.

^This. A paperclip, along with a metal pen cap clip, make fairly decent lockpicks. Gotten me out of more than a few jams than I'd care to admit. Of course, they also got me into a few of them... <_<

You can use it to style your hair! My friend did a speech on the many uses of paper-clips!

I always made them in to those triangle things that pop in to the air whenever you drop it onto a surface.

Or as a clip for paper, who would've thought of that? :p

Erm. When faced with paperclips I had an overwhelming desire to straighten them. So I guess you can do whatever you can do with small, straight pieces of wire.

I once put my step-brother's keys to his safe, inside of it, then locked it with a paperclip. Later I unlocked it with a paperclip, but it took longer.
