Spur of the moment heroic sacrifice to save the life of a random stranger for me.
A drowning random stranger? But wouldn't you rather save the dog? The stranger might a rapist or a murderer.
So might the dog though!

OT: Nothing really. I might end up doing something heroic in the spur of the moment, but that's hardly a cause now is it.

Things I'd die for?

Lessee here, my family, friends, squad, and the freedom of my people. That about sums it up.

It's not like I'll die gladly or anything, and I might risk my life for other things, but these are the things I will not hesitate to give my life for. I'll still fight tooth and nail to preserve my own life, but if it comes down to it, all the things I mentioned are more important than my life. They must be given priority.

As Mr. Antolini said in The Catcher in the Rye, "The mark of the immature man is that he wants to die nobly for a cause, while the mark of the mature man is that he wants to live humbly for one."

To gain immortality in the form of undeath.
Preferably not zombielike undeath, but the kind that actually lets me keep my sentience.

Other than that, well, I won't be dying for my country or to save humanity. It can rot for all I care, so long as I can get out.

Loved ones.

Also for things I'd consider a just cause.
Probably not my homeland though.

First I proudly die for my family knowing in the knowledge I saved them and second i would die for a cause that would put a stop to us getting beaten the crap out of by THOSE WHO ARE MEANT TO PROTECT AND SERVE US AND THE LAW!!! LIKE THE POLICE OFFICERS WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR this poor man's death

YOU KNOW WHAT HE DID WRONG EH?, he parked his car on double yellow lines or parked it wrong, I have nothing else to say

Well, you are listening to a song from a Japanese anime based on samurai based culture, so the concept of honor and dying for a cause is hugely over bloated in the song.

If you actually had this kind of mentality nowadays, you'd be labeled as a terrorist. lol

i dont have a cause I would die for. But i also dont have a reason i want to hang on to dear life.
I guess I am one of those passive modern day people.

There are a number of things I like to believe I'd have the courage to give my life for - my faith, my family, my ideals - but I don't know if I'd actually have the courage to do it in practice.

Dying for anything is downright stupid. There's no point in willingly and certainly exchanging your life for something you won't be around to enjoy. Countries, wives, children, friends and gods exist at my pleasure. They can be replaced. There's no substitute for me.

Now, I might get myself killed over something incredibly stupid, no one wants to die because their autoerotic asphyxiation was too enthusiastic or they picked the wrong mushroom, but that's different. Those are acceptable risks taken in pursuit of something that you may enjoy later. Potential gains. There aren't any gains in strapping a bomb to yourself or flying your jet up the alien hole.

I would probably only die for something if I was 100% certain that it would be of as much help to as many people as possible. And even then it would still depend on the method of death.

It's difficult to say right now, as I'm not in an actual life-or-death situation, but I'd like to think that I would willingly give my life for my family, friends, random strangers in trouble, the Union, Britain, harmony and freedom in general, my faith, the prevention of evil acts, or to prevent violating any of my principles.

For example, if I was put in a situation where I had to decide between my own life or someone else's, I really hope I'll choose to save the other person.

Once I was asked my a friend whether I would rather steal a large portion of money for some anonymous party, or be killed. I was surprised how shocking it was for some people that I choose death instead. Apparently self-sacrifice isn't held as a virtue by some.

If my death could change the way humans think, make them stop putting themselves before others even when they have enough to be happy, I wouldn't ponder it. This world is too selfish, and without a change at the of every humans value system I doubt there can be much change.

Captcha: POINTS DONT MATTER

Firstly: it's "don't", you fool.
Secondly: Starting to get philosophical, are we now captcha? You may have a point, but it doesn't matter.

Well I'd LIKE to think that I'd gladly sacrifice myself if it meant saving others from death, but things change when the decision is staring you in the face. In all honesty, I'd probably be a coward and save my own skin. ... and then probably kill myself after realizing what I'd done. My personality is weird.

Freedom is worth anything. My ancestors left their homes and risked everything in pursuit of this idea that is simply just one word: freedom.

Depends. I'd rather do what needs be done and not die in the process, though most of the time that's just down to luck.

We'll see whether I die or not if North Korea ever grows some balls and fires their stupid missles that are no doubt pointed at my general vicinity right now.

Eh... I'd rather live for a cause than die for one. But I'm sure if I must pick a "cause" (as opposed to "my family" or "this person") it would involve some sort of freedom.

I'll die when it's my turn to do so. Whether that means taking up arms in a war for which I feel a sense of responsibility (our generation has yet to see one...), or in a bid to help my friends or family. I'd like to think that, if I am to die for a cause, it is one with which I shall feel no qualms taking action against, even if my odds are unfavorable. However... I'm pretty certain I'm gonna be hit by a bus... Or cancer.

Mine is the protection of me and my familly.
The cause you would die for is to protect yourself? seems like a paradox there pal.

I haven't found a cause worth dying for at the moment. Probably too young, need more time to find one. Dying for family is a loss/loss situation, either you die and your family is now left bereft or they die and you're left depressed. Nobody wins.
This is exactly right, I would specifically 'not' die for my family.

I might commit atrocities for them, perhaps, but dying for them seems counter productive.

In answer to the original question, I think I wouldn't die for anything except when i'm rather old,
and completed most things I want to do in life, because dying for a cause means you can no longer
help in other ways.. I guess what i'm saying is life is quite valuable don't throw it away so
easily!

The whole 'live or die' trope is extremism in it's purist form, and that's why it's used so often
in popular media.
