For me, I honestly don't think that I could. Too many ideals. There's a little voice in the back of my head that would be shouting at me forever if I took a life.

I'd like to say I wouldn't take a life to save mine or someone I cared about cause of... you know, it's bad, but since I've never been in that situation and there's been times before when I've done stuff and afterwards thought "why did I do that?", I really don't know what would happen in certain hypothetical situations.

I like to think I could bring myself to kill someone if I absolutely had to in order to save someone I love. But the truth is I'd probably hesitate until it's too late, be too cowardly to get involved, or be too weak and incompetent to actually manage it even if I wanted to. Besides, how embarrassing would it be if I missed shooting someone standing five meters away, or tried to shank someone but couldn't muster enough force to do any damage. It would be like witch slayer ulting a creep. Better not to try.

It's a bit of a cop out to say this, but I honestly have no idea without being put in that situation. Like several others have said, I'd like to think nothing would drive me to the point of being able to kill someone, but in reality who knows?

In self-defence or the defence of people I care about are the most clear situations in which I would take a life. Also possibly revenge if someone grievously harmed someone close to me, wrong in most cases I know but I'm not perfect and I could see myself doing that in anger.
To be honest probably not much. I have a terrible temper and I'm extremely protective of family and friends.

I would kill to preserve the wellbeing of myself and my friends and family. I would take a life to protect my home and country. That's about it. I would not kill for religion or other disagreement. I might hurt people for less, but it's gonna take a lot to push me towards violence.
I think if we were in some sort of Fallout post-apocolyptic landscape and cannibalistic raiders were trying to kill me just so they can use my body to decorate their den of evil, I think I could probably fight back with lethal force quite easily.
That sort of kill or be killed situation doesn't really come up too much in most Western Countries. Unless you live in South Side, Chicago.

In all seriousness though, it would depend mostly on two things unrelated to whatever the main issue was. First, would I incur any legal ramifications for doing so, and second, am I in any serious danger if I don't take the life?
If the answer is no to the first and yes to the second, I'd probably do it.

well pretty much any healthy human would kill in self defense whether they want to believe it or not, its simply instinct, either youre a killer or youre dead. if killing wasnt a natural response to some things we never wouldve made it out of the ocean let alone have the society today that allows us to thrive and survive without having to end each other. modern conveniences are the only thing really holding us back, we can play at being benevolent because we no longer have to get dirty just to survive. most of us eat meat without a second thought, even knowing how awfully they animals are treated, because its simple instinct; eating meat= surviving. the moment someone's death becomes necessary for your survival, trust me, youll find your not so benevolent after all.

Don't think I could kill someone with a knife. Stab; if I had to, probably, and the receiver might die in the hospital later, but I doubt I could finish the job on the spot.
But then, if we're talking about using a firearm, I reckon I could easily distance myself mentally from a double-tap to the chest. The further away and the less physical action necessary, the more detached I'd be, I guess.
