I really liked how the version of Angel of Death that Danzig and Hank III did for 6/6/6 sounded, I just wish there was a better quality version available online.

Any Disturbed cover is preferable to the original but if I had to pick just one it would be their cover of Living After Midnight by Judas Priest.
Two reasons:
1.The painkiller drum solo at the beginning
2.David Draimans voice makes my man-parts wet...too creepy?

'Sweet dreams' by marilyn Manson. Awesome cover. Also Machine Heads cover of 'message in a bottle', and Gojiras cover of Metallicas 'Escape'.

I am only a man said:
Elton John- Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds (originally by The Beatles)
The Bad Plus- Everybody Wants to Rule the World (originally by Tears for Fears)
Hanson- Optimistic (originally by Radiohead; yep, THAT Hanson, just listen to it)
Maynard James Keenan- 21st Century Schizoid Man (originally by King Crimson)

Didn't even know MJK did that, and i'm a mssive Tool fan!

Tori Amos' covers of both "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "97 Bonnie and Clyde". And actually, probably a few more of her covers as well.

Failure's cover of "Enjoy The Silence" (though ironically, not Tori's version, which was kind of lame.)

Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower (Dylan Cover)
Cancer Bats - Sabotage (Beastie Boys cover)
Gallows - Nervous Breakdown (Black Flag cover)
New Found Glory - Kiss Me (Sixpence None The Richer cover)
My Chemical Romance - Desolation Row (Dylan cover)
Killswitch Engage - Holy Diver (Dio cover)
For someone with London Calling as your picture, I'm surprised you didn't say Brand New Cadillac =S
Because I don't actually prefer it. I love it as much as the original, I don't think it's better.

There's too many for me to count. I love lots of covers and remixes over the origional song, but there will be one that stands out the most for me the most and it will probably be so for a while.

Not saying it's my favourite, but it is by far the... most deviant I've heard for a while.

The majority of bands who cover Metallica do the songs better than the actual band does. As a matter of fact, it becomes impossible to listen to the originals, once you've heard the covers done correctly.

I Fought the Law covered by The Clash
Call Me the Breeze covered by Lynyrd Skynyrd

Thats what springs to mind. Sorry JJ Cale.

Bitches Aint Shit is another great Ben Folds cover....one of my favorite bands
Actually the medal for the best "Bitches aint shit" cover goes to the winning A cappella version;

Eh, hard to say, since I like certain covers and the originals equally.

...Except "Hurt", I strongly prefer the cover by Johnny Cash to the original.

Black Sabbath's cover of The Warning (Originally by Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation) is masterful.

I'm glad to see someone beat me to it. My favorite Sabbath song, and it's a cover. The original is good, and they wouldn't have done the cover without it, but I still prefer Iommi's guitar work and Ozzy's emotional distress over the (admittedly) awesome drums of Ansley Dunbar.

Now, three of my own favorites:
Ellsworth's voice is awesome for this, and DD's bass work is an interesting change:
For some odd reason I prefer Van Canto's version of Wishmaster over the version Nightwish did. I'm going to plead that Inga has a better voice, and I know that is not a small accomplishment.
Alice Cooper's version is good, but I like the way Dave Mustaine hams up the guitars and the lyrics. I'm not hard to get along with, I'M IMPOSSIBLE!

Black Label Society's cover of I Never Dreamed(by Lynyrd Skynyrd)
Its one of my favorite songs. I have to say, I don't like original done by Lynyrd Skynyrd, it just isn't my cup of tea.
