What sort of emo do you have in mind tho ?
The term as it is originated from 80ties hardcore-punk that evolved into emocore in the infamous United States.
In current times the term went through several changes and currently is quite widespread from music through lifestyle all the way to very vague term for anyone thats whining about silly things on the internet.
As for myself, i use this term to describe the 'subculture', partially created by MTV on other mainstream mass media, of kids that despite their families good (often above average) material and social status, due to lack of real issues make a big deal of their supposedly unsuccessful emotional life, and go on how nobody understands their pain and how their souls are hurt by the unforgiving world they were punished to live on.
Its one of those subcultures i have very little respect for, because they don't really represent anything except their attention whoring.
Sadly, for false reasons, the term is often associated with gothic subculture, while majority of goths i do know are among the most positive people i've met. Only emo-goths i've encountered were all those teenage bois and girls climaxing at the slightest mention of Nightwish and Evanescence which they consider the very essence and pinnacle of gothic music and art.
I blame you America, for breeding such abominations
