I now have 4 computers, each with their own name:

1) Kodiak (my main gaming machine, named after the Kodiak in Tiberian Sun)
2) Viper (my older desktop, used as 2ndary gaming machine and as MSN machine, named after the AH-1Z)
3) Lappy (my old laptop, now sitting in the closet awaiting my decision on what to do with it)
4) Mandy (my new netbook, named after my missus, since when on it I'm talking to her 99% of the time :p)

Stealthputer. As it is black and stealthy. And then my friends named it Stellar, because they are crap at making names.

My next computer will be called Professor Biceps.

So when you load up an OS on your computer, you are asked to name your computer. Alternatively, if you named your computer something on the OS install, but you refer to it as something else, say that instead.

What did you name your's?

I named mine "FemBot-3000" as a tip off to futurama
I call it 'computer'. Go me.

Seriously, why should I give a nickname to a piece of technology? It's not like it has a soul... >_>

I originally named my computer "Magi II", since I named my old one "Magi" after the supercomputer from Neon Genesis Evangelion (incidentally, I labelled my 3 hard drives Caspar, Melchior and Balthazar after the 3 parts of the Magi). But since I started using some of the voice samples from Ever 17 for the start up and shut down cues and set a new wallpaper, I renamed it "Sora" after the AI from that game which provides the voice samples I'm using. (Incidentally, I named my laptop "Yubiseiharukana" and gave it the voice samples and wallpaper of that character from the same game.)

My work computer is 'katarn'. It's reasonably pronounceable and cool-looking even if you don't get the reference, and as a nod to Star Wars, it's pretty subtle, given that not everyone is as much of a Dark Forces fan as I am.

A couple months after I had to come up with that, I got a shiny new computer at home, so naturally I stuck with the theme and called it 'moldy-crow'.

Six nerds came to kill me one time. The best of 'em carried this. It's a Callahan Laptop, 720 TB RAM. Customized keyboard. Alienware envies it's gaming capabilities. It is my very favorite laptop. I call it Vera.
The hero of Canton, the man they call Jayne! (Not the same episode)
OT: I named it Skynet, and hillariously enough, the first time I used it, it denied me Administrator rights.

Currently I am using my laptop and it is named Jack F Musgrave but when I get a desktop I'll name it something different. Not sure what.
