What did you think of the clickers in The Last of Us?

Clickers don't make sense. Or rather, their echolocation doesn't. That's not how echo location works. Even if you were silent, if you're in direct line of sight of one, the clicking sound they make would still bounce off of you and make you 'visible' to them. Then again, as pointed out above about how spores actually work, more things don't make sense in the game.

That being said, as an enemy they're pretty good. I never liked instant death mechanics, but otherwise they provide nicely tense moments.

I liked them. I don't really care one way or another about zombies. Like vampires, aliens, raiders, thugs, etc. haven't all been done to death. I have been playing video games since the 1980s, everything has been overdone for me. Zombies are not special in any way and this iteration was pretty original... and they looked creepy as hell.

1 hit kills basically enforce the stealth aspect about them. Kinda like those games where getting seen means you have to reload only TLoU gives you 1 chance to have it not count against you. Better than the screen going red and then a loading screen on getting spotted. The echolocation doesn't make a whole lot of sense especially considering that if I throw a bottle, they would see where I threw it from. However, I just assume that the infection does a great deal of brain damage and that echolocation is merely used to keep from running into walls, not primarily for hunting. My disbelief is then, once again, suspended.

They're slightly more creative zombies. That's alright I guess. Certainly better than the old bog-standard kind.

Although I prefer Chrysallid zombies from XCOM personally. "Oh look, a shambling corpse, how tedious and-OHMYGODWHATJUSTERUPTEDFROMIT?!?!"

The clickers can c-lick my balls. They're really the reason I quit the game. I didn't even stop playing at a clicker stealth sequence, but one day I put down the game, and every day since I've thought of how many more clicker encounters there must be ahead of me, and thus lost my desire to continue. I sure like the lore of the mushroom zombies, but the way you're forced to play with them is crap.

Honestly not a lot, good or bad. They were just another obstacle to overcome cant say I really enjoyed facing them nor did they annoy me enough to stop playing. They never really stuck in my mind or indeed did any enemy or part of that game after playing.

Im not the biggest The Last of Us fan though but I dont dislike it either. Overall I found them more tedious than challenging or scary. The ones who would run just at you on line of sight annoyed me more though. I remember reloading one section about 20 times trying to be stealthy and couldnt see how I was being seen then realised the game actually teleports them in from nowhere when you go past an invisible line. Just gunned em all down and moved on in the end.

I did like the new spin on the Zombie theme however but dont think I would like it as much if they did the same idea again. If a clicker spotted me I usually just let it catch me and then reload although sometimes I fought them on purpose for lols with the molotovs.

The clickers can see you if they click at you. It's one of the elements that makes them inconsistent.

I never played Last of Us, but their Design is delightful and the their Origin is nice change [from what I read].
Is there something else which make them unique without spoiling the game?
