I have an External Hard Drive that I have videos on that I would like to hook up to a PS3 to watch said videos. It is not currently registering when hooked into the PS3 is there a way that I can get it to be seen by the PS3?

It is a Seagate 500 Gig.

Is it a 2.5" or 3.5" drive?

Some 2.5" drives won't register because they don't get enough power from the USB ports on the PS3
It says 2.0 USB not sure if thats what you are talking about

If your external uses its own power supply, it wont work. You will have to transfer the movie to a thumb drive in order to watch them on your ps3.

Actually, forget all that. The most likely cause of it is that your hard drive is formatted to NTFS. It needs to be formatted to FAT32 for the Playstation to see it (Google it, there's plenty of tutorials out there, I had the same problem with mine and trying to play stuff on my 360)
Seriously, you have to use FAT32? May I be the first to say: Fuck. That. Noise. Honestly, why would you still use a format that doesn't allow you to use HD movies, on a console designed for HD movies. The hell.
