What do Skyrim, MLP, MW3, COD and Saints Row the 3rd have in Common?

Over the last weekend a lot of people started Pony threads and other people started complaining.
While I am annoyed by their obtrusive presence I don't think the MLP thing is an isolated case.
Yesterday I saw a couple of annoying MW3 (That's Battlefield: Modern Warfare 3 I guess) threads where the original poster asks why so many people hate that game. How many same threads have been there? Three?

All the fanboys creep up and suddenly start spamming the escapist with their favorite, obnoxius, obtrusive viewpoint. Then they wait a couple of weeks and then it starts all over. Relase dates and stuff and trailers are just gravitional wormholes attracting these phenoma.

The problem is, I like Skyrim. It's probably overhyped and I fear I will be crestfallen soon. Anyway the sheer amount of the Skyrim threads starts to be annoying. So it's counterproductive. (At least to me...)

So for discussion value (or even tl;dr):

Now that I personally found out this cycle: one fanboy rage wave against another, this Ultimate Truth? the very core of the Escapist's Forum forecast...

Shall we stop that or embrace it? And - more importantly How?

I'm surprised Escapist has lasted this long without this problem, but anyone can use the forum and that shouldn't change, even if we don't like it. The best the community can do is ignore and not respond to them but people seem to like feeding them. I personally enjoy them as people get really silly and they are always good for a laugh.

I'm not sure what can be done about it, except the moderators setting up some sort of system of if the thread your trying to create is similar to something else already made, it will automatically take you there, so basically, the title of the thread acts like a search bar, and the post button acts like a enter button. It would definitely unclog all the reposts, but there might be that one outlier of someone getting redirected when his /her post is actually about another subject, just correlating to the game in question, but o well, the benefits of the many outweigh the minor potential bugs in the system

Hush you, even the one's who love the show were sick of the threads that popped up

(95% of which weren't started by us by the way!)

OT: I'm inclined to agree. It's certain topics like these that a viewpoint gets overly stressed and we water rinse repeat in what seems like 10 seconds flat

People will be people, especially on the internet. Instituting a system that stops this would most likely alienate enough people that the site would fail... and I like the Escapist. I'd really hate to see it go out like that.
So I say embrace the silliness of it all, post identical opinions over and over in new and creative ways... and for the love of the almighty bob who teaches us not to look at the sky, make fun of those who create the threads.

See, that's what I'm talking about. Some people even think that this kind of thing is still funny. It might have been the 3534722 times before but it's a tad overused lately.

Or to put it in other words:

OMG, OMG, OMG, The cake is a lie!

Truth?

the Escapist is the search for fact... not truth. If it's truth you're looking for, Dr. Tyree's philosophy class is right down the hall!

ok, ok i jest but society seems to juxtapose things to boil down all the things that are incorrect in some biological way of exposing the truth

it's actually quite fascinating to watch society from a logical perspective if you can stand back a bit
i suggest you try it sometime

Now, now, don't jump to conclusions here!

I never said I reinvented the wheel or something.
True I had this "epiphany" lately when I got fed up with the Skyrim/COD/MW3/Ponies threads but I'm pretty sure someone else must have found that out by now. It's not that I have been here that long to oversee the entire lifecycle of the Forum-Universe and been able to derivate the ultimate equation from it.
That's your job, you're here since 2008, tell us about the big bang of the Escapists Forum

I'm talking about the Ultimate Truth? something only religions claim to have. So please be astounded and gaze in awe. Thank you!

I don't get this sentence, sorry, I tried really hard but juxtapose things boiling down all the other things with an incorrect biological way didn't really connect in my brain. Please rephrase...

I do this quite often and it's rather scary.

People shouldn't start these threads in the first place. It's very easy to say what people should or shouldn't but I honestly don't know what those less fanboyish/girlish users can do expect for keeping calm and adding people to the "ignore" list.

...damn it.

You just had to include the P-word, didn't you OP?

I may be a brony, but really, even I know when you're tempting fate.

OT: Yeah, I can agree that the complaining (insert image of Rarity whining) has gotten out of hand, and really, can't people just keep recurring opinions to themselves?

Like many before me, I want to come up to them and just yell loudly:

"YOU ARE NEVER THE ONLY ONE"

Escapist has an ignore function? Where, where?

Fucking bronies man. It's not that hate you or your show. I just hate that's all you talk about. All your little pony avatars (except for clever ones like some 8-bit pony i Saw above) just start to run together and lump you all together into one little ball of horsetails and rainbows so that I may hate you more efficiently.

Seriously...you guys are killing MLP. It's like the cake is a lie thing all over again.

Anyhow, I just ignore those threads. Seems pretty counterproductive to read them since I know that a.) there are a million threads like that out there and b.) it's only going to make me mad.

Same reason I steer clear of MLP threads.

Don't hate you guys, just don't want to hear you talk about so much...and then hear somebody (like myself) bash it. And then you guys defend it. and then someone bashes it...and so forth.

I miss the good old days when if a thread was repeated seventeen people would shout: "REPEAT TREAD.USE THE SEARCH BAR!!!"

Aaah, yes, the good old days...

But that's quite an idea, we could establish a usergroup doing this. Like some sort of Forum vigilantes who post: "REPEAT TREAD.USE THE SEARCH BAR!!!"
Is that against the low content rule? Certainly not, but if so we could add some additional superfical addendum to it.

What do you think?
Shall we strike back?
I would be willing to post these "REPEAT TREAD.USE THE SEARCH BAR!!!" under those threads.
Who is with me?

agree, these spammed threads ask nothing new, add nothing new to any prior threads, its attention whoring, or in the case of the MLP threads, trolling, most us long time brony know better :p

but its not just Skyrim or MLP threads, can't forget the 'your avatar' or 'last game' threads, so its not just the fan boys who lack creativity with threads, its pretty much all of us.

i do have a simple solution though. spam or not, if the thread you see is about a thing you don't like *hit ye olde Canterlot Royal voice button* THOU SHOULD CONTINUE ON THY JOURNEY TO A THREAD THOU FAVORS AND LEAVE THE UNFAVORABLE ONE BEHIND *coughs and clears throat* and just forget it exists, nothing to be gained for dropping and going 'omg another (insert content name here) thread'
