Pretty much what i do; except i just get times where i feel very happy and just suddenly Feel Miserable. I actually find video games to be a terrible thing for me to do when feeling blue (might not be the case for everyone). They're fun and all, but a lack of fun isn't what usually gets me down (more so a lack of purpose).
Concerts also put me in a ridiculously good mood for a long period of time, but they are so few and far between.
Also, with my work, it gets me socialising with lots of people: one time in particular i got chatted up by quite a few people of both genders which really made me happy.
Finding something Productive to do, like a project or something your interested in REALLY helps i find as well, or i listen to Anamanaguchi or read Scott Pilgrim, both are so uplifting to me.
