I still can't punish the Foot Dive very well, unless i'm playing Vergil that is

"Oh A full screen Foot Dive eh? SWAG DIVE! OWNED!"

Vergil's Stinger can punish everything... It's not even funny. Did you know that Akuma's projectile hyper is unsafe at full screen away? No? Vergil'd! XD
Alright, can someone tell me if what was written there is actual English, or it some sort of strange moonman speak.
The funny thing is I didn't even use the terms "mix up" "keepaway" "zoning" "chicken blocking" "cross up/under" and several thousand more.

Trust me, fighting game terminology is hard to understand even if you do play them... The solution? Go watch several UMVC3 events on Team Spooky/iplaywinner's channel and try to connect what the commentators are saying against what's happening on screen. That's how I did it anyway... XD

Don't worry, if you don't play Marvel vs Capcom games, you won't understand.

OT: I tend to hold my breath, or say 'boom' when a shot hits.

Damn right BAYBEE! XD
It's just...man. Now I know how other people must feel when I talk about watching a Starcraft 2 match.
Oh man, you should see it when I get the launcher on X-23, go into magic series, finish with heavy Crescent Scythe and straight into light Talon Attack, use Ankle Slice for the OTG while calling in Vergil's Rapid Slash assist, into launcher, heavy Crescent Scythe, light Talon attack, OTG again and into Rage Trigger.

And that's just one combo :D

It's like another language for the uninitiated.

If the game I'm playing has rifle sway (like CoD), I'll practice compensating for it to see how small of a target I can keep the crosshairs on without holding my breath (in-game). For games without sway, I talk to my opponents, try to coax them out of cover or something similar, even though they can't hear me.

I stop an think, an then begin to visualise the far off details as objects other than they really are.

Sniping? People actually, y'know, snipe?
I... um... I panic-fire into anybody who gets too close before I make it to a decent blind, and usually say things like "Whew, topped 'im" when I somehow get a headshot after the panic-fire.

And then I die one twenty-seventh of a second later, because there is so little skill involved in MW3.
So very, very little.

I always exhale before taking a shot (unless it's aimed in a hurry), sometimes I hum some tune while looking for targets. Oh and I often find myself giggling after a succcessful headshot. I love headshots.

You should have seen this crazy ZvT I watched. The Zerg opened fast expand to the Terran's natural and began to spinecrawler/Queen rush the wall. Terran however was turtling and going fast BC, which zerg didn't scout, so just as he bust the wall, the first BC was up and it was destroying the Queens while an SCV repaired it. At that point the creep had spread into the terran base and the Zerg was building Anti-air in the base, but the BCs where carving up his defenses, then the Terran suddenly GG'd.

;)

I always go for the most difficult shot available instead of the easiest. Much more satisfying that way, even though it's much less practical.

I try and mentally manipulate the person i'm supposed to shoot into standing there. Then shoot them in the bollocks.

So my question is: Do you ever find yourself in a pattern of doing strange things while sniping? Do you feel like it actually -helps- you snipe better as you do it?
I usually snipe when I'm sniping.

Just kidding.

I find myself actually holding my breath sometimes if I'm really into it :p

I usually fire, occasionally holding my breath when it's a tense shot. I also don't blink if I can help it. In addition, I'll kind of zone out a little bit, and ignore everything besides my... prey? The word works, doesn't it?

That being said, I don't camp or do much of what a typical sniper does. I take a more aggressive approach, generally, including moving *closer* and, if I miss at a certain distance, switching to a secondary to finish the job.

That being said, one shot is really all I need most of the time.

I'll also generally attempt to anticipate the next movements of my opponents, in the event that they manage to survive a shot. This can range from just mentally preparing and lining up a shot in front or in back of them to dealing with any other adversaries that the shot may bring running.

Streetfighting is for people who can't snipe.

No sense getting your hands dirty unless you have to.

OT: I usually talk to my target or myself if I miss.

In Battlefield games I give the enemies names and evil backstories. If you're good enough and happen to be talking to friends it can get a good laugh going. Think of it as people spotting, but you get to shoot them after you've mocked their lives.

Miss, curse, miss, curse, miss, ragequit.

I find that this pattern works for me.
I pretty much do the same but I run out of ammo first before I quit and then I usually just switch classes and wonder how people have fun doing this.
