What do you do with insects?

Depends what it is, if it buzzes I scream and leave the room, and come back armed to try and get it to fly out the window, if not, I won't really mind unless it touches me, in which case I will madly spasm about until it leaves my side of the room.

I never kill them though, I appreciate life too much.

I usually try my best to avoid killing them. I feel sorta sympathetic towards them. If they're in the way, I usually just swat them away from me, or ignore them.

Unless it's a huge spider, or any sort of blood-sucker.

Destruction by whatever means are available. I have a standing exterminator contract, and if something gets in, it gets smooshed. Usually by my cane, since it's handy, but I'm not picky.

There are two exceptions, though. We have these small, pale, slow, spindly spiders that hang out on my bathroom ceiling. For some reason I don't mind them at all, and we let each other be. If one's in the shower, I'll give it a lift back up the wall so it doesn't get drowned. It's interesting to watch what happens if we get more than one at a time, it's like spider reality TV.

The other exception are spiders in general, if and only if my husband is awake and around. He likes to trap and release, so if he's around, they get a pass to the outdoors. Otherwise, smooshville.

If it's flying, I slap them hard against the ground. Normally it knocks them out cold without staining my hands or the ground. But it stains tables. A lot.

Usually I just let the poor things be, unless it's a blood sucker. Those get smooshed ASAP or brought to the attention of my cat. Flies that insist landing on me is the best thing since hotdogs get swatted.

But seriously, mostly I just leave them be or if particullarly annoying but unharmful, shown the window. This happens often with moths which tend to fly hard against the lightbulbs (producing a very audible *clink* sound or making the light shift around). Catching them is fun too, they are usually trusting insects. I often catch them just by placing my hand above them when they land, in a cupping motion. They try to fly away but eventually just land on my skin and let me carry them outside.

Just cup them in my hand and let them outside through the window, or put them on a tree if they're a little climber, a snail, or similar.

Admittedly, I only have this luxury because there's nothing poisonous or dangerous in England.

I try to avoid killing them since I find it arrogant to suggest my existence is so much more important than them that I should be able to kill them.

So I either ignore them, or sometimes catch them and put them out a window (or get someone else to).

My closest thing to a religious experience I've ever had was when a spider appeared in my room so I killed it, then I felt bad about it. I literally said out loud whilst staring at the ceiling "Ok, it didn't deserve that.". I looked back down and another spider just appeared at my feet. I looked back up and said "I'm going to fail this test.".

Depends. Sometimes i put them outside, house spiders a leave, flys i smash and other unidentifiables i cant reconise i will eat in front of people to freak them the fuck out.

Spiders are kept. I had a spider last year (I actually gave it a name) and it kept my room free of mosquito's throughout the summer. I loved that spider. It suddenly left though

Depends on insect. If it's a fly i don't bother much, cba. Spiders are usually easy to kill, depending on where they are.

If it's a cockroach, I launch a motherfucking crusade against that bastard. I have literally moved furniture to reach a cockroach. I use mostly anything against it, bug spray, deodorant spray (stuns them after about a minute or two), alcohol, perfume.
Once I was so bent on catching a roach, I didn't realize I almost gassed myself with deodorant. Coughed the entire night.

The only insects that I don't kill are moths. I try and catch them and then throw them out the window.

It depends a lot on what kind of bug it is however usually I'll put it outside. If its something like a fly, mosquito, gnat, etc, I won't. Flying things generally get killed, non-flying put outside. Spiders I will sometimes leave alone entirely since they eat other bugs that annoy me further.
However, I can count on one hand how many bugs I've seen in my apartment in the past year.

I hate killing insects, so I try to convey them outside whenever I can. That said, I've hung flypaper in the kitchen because the problem was getting out of hand due to certain lazy family members leaving the door open.

If there's a moth in my room, I'll try to identify it before Gandalfing it out the window. I love moths. Well, not technically moths.

I let spiders live in the corners of rooms, they starve after a while because I kill flies and the like (I'm very much allergic to fly bites, it's them or me)
If I see something like a moth or butterfly or larger crawling insect like a cockroach I'll just wrapn them in tissue and put them outside/scare them away.
