I hate people who treat it like a job and cant have fun. I had this one guy in my wow guild who took pvp to seriously we couldn't even joke about it with him.

I think you're giving far too much credit to the people that run the industry. That's definitly not how they advertise each generation when they're trying to sell them. They pretty much talk about graphics and size.

Oh, when you sarcastically insult people your opinion becomes invalid. Frowned upon here.
All I said is holding no opinion is not a view-point worth respecting or an argument to be valid, because nothing is being said. Now, insults[footnote]Which what I wrote there wasn't, by the way. don't actually do anything to devalue a point, if it's in the case of someone like, say, me, who actually has a point to what he says. May make you angry while reading it, but doesn't make my points any more or less true.

They sure market it that way, because that's all a simple audience understands. The reality is, the looser the limits of the hardware you're working with are, the more complex and big your game will get. Period. Case in point, Crysis and Crysis 2.
When you sarcastically call someone 'genius' that is an insult.

In terms of everything, the fanbase. We are the most self entitled, arrogant assholes I've ever seen.

In terms of games, probably the implementation of all the distribution services. You need a bunch of different clients to run anything on the PC (Origin, steam, GFWL), any it is fucking stupid.

Kind of hesitant to say this, but the community of any multiplayer game, ever.

There probably isn't much that we can do about this; there's always gonna be the griefers, the arrogant guys who think they're the best, the guys who've never played before and are just trying to get the hang of the game, etc. Which makes multiplayer games so hard to play. You can get a good game going every once in a while, but you have to put up with the community just as often.

I will have to go with the online community in games like Black Ops as well.

A perfect example just happened today. I went 38 and 11 in team deathmatch. I said nothing at all during the game yet I receive hateful comments about how I'm a "lucky pos" because I killed some whiny 14 year old a lot from behind. Instead of a simple "good game", people always have to make excuses for themselves. Sportsmanship simply does not exist.
i know. it's like if they kill you they are like "im mlg you noob loser" BUT if YOU kill THEM it's like "OMG YOU F------ HACKER!!!"

whatever happened to fair play and honor? whatever happened to may the best man win instead
of may the cheapest and cowardly man win?
I completely agree with this, which is why it annoys me so much because im probably one of the only people online who still plays fair

Companies screwing us over because of piracy. Cough*DRM*cough
The 12-year-olds who's vocabulary is limited to sexual slurs.
Assholes in multiplayer who are screwing us over/spamming/trolling.
Half-Assed 8-hours or less singleplayer campaign.
Console controls display on the PC.
No manuals/instructions (Thank god for the Witcher's 2 guides)
Casual games. And that there are too many of them.

The twelve year olds online screaming at me for being a noob when they go 2-12. Apparently they don't know the unwritten rule of the internet number 14: "If you K/D is negative don't talk shit about other people's K/D"

I believe I can finally comment within this whole group and have it be honest.

People who, because of the fact they beat me at a fight twice and are fighting someone who clearly has the tag "Beginner" on their Player ID should be called a "Scrub" and told not to fight online ever again. Twice.

MVC3 is a fun game, but the guy put me down for being a new player is kind of a dick move. Why couldn't that have been used for encouragement, instead of "Don't Play online again, Scrub." put on a message for me?

Give me a month and I'll be as good as anybody else, but C'mon.

So, if I had to sum it up in a sentence, I'd say, "People who put others down because they think they are better than you".

'Everybody plays it, therefore, if you don't play it, you deserve to die.'

People complaining about 'noobs' in any game. If you're getting pissed at people for trying to learn the game, then you probably take it more seriously than intended.

Any game in which Russia is the bad guy.

HD remakes.

Re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-releases.

So many things are wrong with gaming right now:

Franchises: The more crappy sequels you buy, the more you undermine the point of the original story and gameplay and the more you prevent innovation from new IPs.

Image: Games are viewed as children's toys, and this makes it easily for asshole politicians to fuck with the industry in order to gain popularity and support for their next election or whatever.

Story sacrifice for multiplayer: Video games have had some of the greatest narratives I've ever seen, but the growing "need" for online multiplayer is causing story to be shoved to the side.

EA: Do I even have to explain this?

The community: Almost all gamers act like either assholes or manchildren, which definitely doesn't help the image problem.

Not putting enough thought into telling an interesting story.
Is that what you're doing now, or is that your answer?

For me it's DRM.
I mean, you buy the game, put the disc in, install it, and play it. It's a slight bother putting the disc in each time, but I can deal with that.

Then Assassin's Creed 2 comes along with its "always-on" DRM for which you need a constant internet connection so that you can play a SINGLE-PLAYER game. It's just bull... No wonder so many people pirate games, huh?

So yeah, being restricted from playing games you've paid too much for in the first place really gets me.

When the fun in that game soon turn into frustration like stuck in a level or can't pass through it. Also when the rare drop of that item/ weapon is like 0.000000001%.

Things I hate:
1)Whiny teen assholes that squeal into their mics and fail at swearing.
2)Lagging like hell when playing games on my less-than-adequate PC.
3)Getting addicted and gaining too much weight.
4)Developers that throw in really pointless and annoying grinds in games.
5)Fanboys

cover based combat, regen health, increasing lack of local multiplayer and focus on online multiplayer, more focus on multiplayer than campaign/story etc, the majority of people with a microphone, and the ridiculous number of FPS games out there.

so yeah um pick one of them

edit: dlc that stops you playing the full game until you buy it (like the map packs on halo) and dlc thats clearly already on the disk (burnout paradise for example)

I think I hate just about everything about videogames today. The way they're made, sold, the people who make them, play them, advertise them.

Playing games in the 90's things weren't very political unless you subscribed to Edge magazine or were part of the industry.

Now, I can't even buy a game second hand without being forced to feel guilty about it, let alone the problems I have the with games themselves with their pointless sandbox levels with nothing to do, hours of grinding and sub missions - having to WORK to get to the fun parts of games now.

Sudden difficulty spikes!

Example: Saint's Row 2. The final 2 missions.

2nd to last mission: get to a yacht, kill some cops and dudes, get on another boat and chase down and destroy an easy-to-blow up small boat.

last mission: chase down and destroy an armoured limo while under constant gangrape by armoured police tanks, then fly around a tower shooting out 4 small and hard-to-see spots on its sides while under fire from helicopters equipped with homing missiles, which you can only take 3 of and you only get one helicopter.

See, stuff like this is a dick move on behalf of developers and it's because of it that I'm currently pissed off and am never going to be able to complete Saint's Row 2 without cheating.

Fuck you Volition, and fuck your children, and their children! You have awakened a sleeping giant!
