What do you imagine the protagonist doing after beating a game?

Yeah, I've noticed that too. They don't eat, sleep, use the bathroom/ shower. You'd think they would have to eat more often with how much they get hurt.
[sub][sub][sub][sub][sub][sub]It was an innocent mistake! I promise never to do it again! =P *hammers pitifully on door* *ow!*[/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub]

Oh, that's another thing... considering how much they do that would definitely break bones, they'd have to see an orthopaedic consultant, surely!
[sub][sub][sub][sub][sub][sub]I... I guess I could give you a second chance...[/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub]

And I'm also surprised that these people aren't suffering from juandice or scurvy. Or a minor case of death.

Leave everything and everyone they know behind, take all the riches they've accumulated and just travel the world without ever stopping at ome place for too long and without ever forming any significant social ties. Though that might just be me projecting.

Sit around and wait for the inevitable sequel of course! What a silly question.
[small]what's wrong with me, I like sequels, why have I turned into *that* guy?[/small]

So, they become Ender?

Well I know exactly what the protagonist of persona 3 fes does. Its pretty fucking spelled out for you regardless what you pic.

However, I have to imagine the persona 4 protagonist (Quick Silver cause god damnit that was his name in my game) has to wonder...

oh wait

<spoiler=Spoiler(pending on your play through) Alert>has to wonder what kinda fucking goddess is so dickishly cuntish that she kills your little nephew when shes knows that her father is a drunken bastard who seems to be holding onto his daughter as the last string of sanity and then said goddess basically implying to you "look, look what you did! You ruined the lives of the two people who put up with your sorry mute ass. what, you couldnt solve my murder puzzles fast enough that you made me kill MORE people and then finally leverage the life of a child against you! And now youre just going to ride away from it all and leave it like this! oh, theres a special place in hell for you to go to you bastard!"

and of course he cant question it cause hes fucking mute. THogh I also suspect he turns into a sudden atheist because the goddess' excuse for doing all of this is "its for the good of humanity". Well thank you *****, but why not just send a massive meteor crashing into the earth then instead of screwing with me!

Probably have to get a job cos all these things cost money and most games aren't money-making based. Having Solid Snake serving you in KFC or something. Also i'd imagine their houses are a bit of a mess cosidering they haven't been there for God only knows how long. Might need a hoover or something...

You've really got to wonder at video game medical technology... there's a lot do-all/heal-all items in them.

Man, after a full game: a nutritionist; a surgical consultant... basically a whole battery of medical professionals. Oh yeah... and surely: dentist! After getting in a lot of fights, a lot of characters invariably get whacked in the face. A few loose teeth around?

Well, here's to hoping video game characters are unionized and get free health care.

(And while I'd love to de-rail this thread all night, I must be going to sleep as it's nearing midnight. There are always other threads ;P)

For Link (LOZ) case, he just go back to whatever he was doing before the game begin. He doesn't even try to ask the princess on a date or form a relationship with her. (I mean if the LOZ series are in one timeline than why have haven't we played a Link that is actually an offspring of the past Link and Zelda?)

Oh also I would imaging that Samus from Metroid would head the nearest alien space bar for a few drink or two after she complete her missions in the game.

Depends on the character. For now, I'll just go through the list of games I'm currently playing/replaying:

Fallout 3: Keeps on trucking, gradually saving the Wasteland one NPC at a time. Either that or gardening, she'd like to nurture life for once, rather than end it brutally.

Pokémon Sapphire: Maims s'more small fuzzy critters, then goes on to train every single one of their Pokémon up to level 100.

Mass Effect 2: Gets the Normandy patched up then bonks the hell out of Garrus before Arrival happens.

I don't know, cake probably.

EDIT: followed by golfing, followed by go-karting, followed by basketball, followed by tennis, followed by baseball, followed by... am I forgetting anything?
Parties, chess, typing lessons, gate crashing other people's games, picking fights with other franchise stars, going to the Olympics and so on
Well I wasn't going to count Smash Bros. since that's technically an entirely different canon, but... hey wait a minute, chess???

Ah yes, right. Being a doctor, of course. I forgot about his medical practice.

If they drink, they will get really trashed. If they smoke, then cigars will be necessary. If they do none of the above, then they will start. And of course there is the mandatory sex scene.

Err depends on the game. RPGs tend to give you a pretty good idea of what the character will do next
