What do you reckon could improve modern games?

It'd be nice to see someone take a bad game concept and turn it around instead of taking a winning formula and adding something bollocks like 3 extra trees and calling it a new game. I'm not mean making sequels of crap games but realising that most games that people didnt like have at least one good thing in them that can be used.

And also realizing that simple is sometimes better. Someone referenced bulletstorm and this is a good example. Its a run and gun, creative killing spree. Yes it looks beautiful. Yes its got some cool effects but really its just a really fun story, with a reasonably self contained plot, that well exectuted and over all its a simple. Simple guns, simple story, simple landscape.

And LAN should be available on every PC release. Not multiplayer but at least co-op lan. Pretty much every game back in the day had it and now its gone. It would be so awesome now with all the wi-fi and people using gaming laptops. You have no idea how many games i have where i wish that i could play them with my mate when i take my laptop round to his.

And less hard to control, direct from console to PC ports with different key mapping. They almost inevitably suck. At least make it look like you gave a damn.

I dont know how you would enforce this..but

set VERY clear guidelines for games and DLC

1. eather make a decent length single player experence OR make your multiplayer good, dont pussyfoot inbetween

2.DLC....again make a full experiecne, and make your DLC worth a damn, we know youre cutting corners with it in order to make us pay more, dont act like you arnt

Production triangle.

Quick. Cheap. Good.

You can only have two. Seriously, look at anything produced, you can only have 2 of those. So good games either have to come a long time apart from each other, so that the dev's can use the money they have to finish the game properly, or we get games ofthen that are good, but cost the devs a TON of money (which they won't do).

We as consumers have to stop demanding releases of games, or urging developers to release info about a game that they don't want to release yet. If we can be patient, we will get better games.

It's been said a million times before, new IP, and people who have decent ideas to make it.

Like, the other day I thought up 5 drastically different game settings and proceeded to fill them up with original characters, factions, locations, events etc in just an afternoon.
Of course they were all probably complete crap, but the point is that originally is nice when it works and nowhere near dead so long as people exist to have imagination. If I can come up with a bunch of new stuff in one sitting, imagine what an actual fucking, fancy pants, imaginative writer could make in the development time of a series?
We just need the developers of heavily story driven games to quit polluting their game's singleplayer modes with convoluted non-sensical bullshit which players often don't even care about and get more people whose job it is to make cool settings to do it for them.

Bioware style of making games. Bioware is only company that i played all games and loved each and every one. Everything from voice acting, choosing gender to choices, story and character interactions, i think every developer should look at bioware, because they have raised the bar.

To me the only real improvement i could want in games is a better storyline. Take the COD series for example, whats to stop them from having an amazing singple player campaign, i mean war has to be one of the most traumatic emotional experiences a person could go through, why cant this reflect in the storyline rather than just run to here, kill enemies, run here, etc.
