What do you use for passwords?

I only have two, and they are variations of eachother. I don't forget these. It is a very hard password that contains numbers and is not a part of pop-culture. If anyone gets onto my account, well done you darn hackers. Wait let my try this, ********** .

Wow, it really works! It is impossible to type your escapist password here. It shows up in the text block but turns into asterisks when you press post ;)

Mine is easy to me...Truly I use it for almost everything except important stuff like my e-mail and crap like that...[sub]It has nothing to due with anything furry...[/sub]

Truly it's a secret code that I turned into numbers,so it's an incription...I'm paranoid...

Mine is something I came up with years ago.
It's something that one could never guess, and the only reason I use it is because I've remembered the odd thing for years now, even though the thing I used it for was only touched for 1 day.

Now it's my Universal Password.

I write a lot of books, so my password is the title of whatever book i'm working on (or a keyword from the story) followed by my favorite #. to this day, even my closest of friends can't guess my password, because I used never got finished (because it kind of sucked. 1st time!)

The main question is do you use complex or easy to remember passwords?
For anything reasonably important, I use strings of random mixed-case letters and numbers, with punctuation, whenever possible. Spend a little time repeating it or working up a mnemonic, and you'll have no problem memorizing it. They can be a pain in the ass to type on many virtual or mobile keyboards though.

For stuff like website registrations that don't involve any credit card info and that I won't use often (or ever again), I have a few throwaway passwords that I never use for anything important. Even they have a mix of letters and numbers though.

I generally have more trouble remembering my secret question to recover my passwords than my passwords. Seriously I sat on Steam for about 2 hours trying to remember the answer to my question. In the end I remembered the password. Still don't know what school I went too...

Mine are a mixture of brand names and band names (both of brands and bands I don't like) with numbers and caps for certain letters.

For example the letters 3 places after a number are capped, and the letters after a cap are one behind in the alphabet.

That's not what I use, but something like it, so I just have to remember that system and then what name I used.

Edit: My email password is totally different though, so if I ever forget I still have my email, and people can't get into my mail by having one of my passwords.

Lets think about this, you're asking people to reveal how they form their passwords? Madness!

*********************

and also

****************

Yes, 2 ultra long passwords, the 2nd is completely random and I've used it for years. The first is a book series i had wrote when i was younger (sadly never finished or published) that i use mostly all the time. Sadly some areas require shorter passwords so i have many others, but those 2 are my main ones.

I use a combination of 3 or more letters, 4 or more numbers, and at least one symbol - if it is allowed, if not I just use another number.

I have one (almost) Universal password.

It's a name, Butler, but that's for my 'old' accounts. For my new ones, I use a variation.

...Surely no real human will use something as complex as a serial number...
Mine is something like a serial number with words spliced in for good measure. Never underestimate the power of a strong password.

I have passwords like "hxr63#ad.d". (That's not one I actually use of course, but the same basic idea.) I just type some letters, numbers and symbols and remember them. Anything using real words is really dumb to use because of dictionary attacks. Anything using personally relevant data is dumb because of social engineering attacks.
