Nothing, really. Helping throw a football (hand-egg) is the only thing I can think of. Useless little finger, the pinky is.

I use it to open doors, put extra spin on my bowling ball, and for looking classy while drinking tea.

It is also a good self-defense device for poking people in the throat.

I do the whole pinky thing when drinking tea and coffee (I'm not British) and i also use it to clean some of the wax out my ears.

It comes about naturally I find when you hold your cup properly. It's weird, isn't it!
I use my pinky for my shift key, guitary bits, and awesome fingertips saves in football!
