What do you want from Crackdown 3?

Crackdown was an unexpected surprise and a great game. Crackdown 2 was a decent game, but ultimately a little disappointing, feeling more like a DLC pack than a true sequel, and it failed to capture all the fun of the original.

So my question to you is, what would you like to see from Crackdown 3 to make it a good game?

Personally:
Set it a either a full dystopian future, with the Agency having solidified its power completely, or during an all-out war between the resistance and the Agency.
A bigger map, maybe not change the actual location, but revamp the city majorly and increase the whole thing in size. I'm thinking that Los Muertos's island would bulldozed completely, rebuilt and generally gentrified. The Volk's district would be a full industrial nightmare, all dark and noir-y. The Shai-Gen district would be highly vertical, monorail, huge skyscrapers and skyways, a very futuristic look.
The player would be the resistance's supersoldier, teased at thwe end of the second game, and would start out with the usual minimal powers and just a pistol and shotgun, then they'd have to steal weapons and upgrades from the Agency as they take over control points in the city. S for appearance I'd want the player to start out looking more like Spider-Man or Grant Morrison's new take on Superman, far less militant that the Agent in the first two games.
Then of course the series signature twist would be that while the player takes down the oppressive government the criminal element would emerge again.
I'd also definitely want the game to move back toward the "go here, kill this" approach of the first game, none of the defend the thing stuff of the second game.

I'm thinking we could get a new city.
As well as being in a different enforcement crew than the agency, preferably a new organization.
Bring back the three gangs approach, but with a twist, specifically that the agency from the first two be used as an the strongest gang ( In case you didn't know the first two games set the scene for the agency to "expand")
Bring handguns back.
More agility orbs.

Anyway that's my opinion

...They're making a third Crackdown...?

Well if that's true then a new city to explore would be nice. Also, drop the emphasis on multiplayer. I honestly haven't even picked up the second but I loved the first so really, as long as the third is a lot like the first I'll be happy. Also, loose the zombies and mutants and whatnot.

Yeah, new city and a return to the varying agents aesthetics. In CD1, every agent evolved differently in the looks department; in 2, you leveled up once and your helmet went on and all evolved the same.

And the agents should speak once in a while. It's one thing to have a silent protagonist in a game where fleshed out, story-integral NPCs keep things alive with relevant speech, but in Crackdown, all you've got is a wannabe movie trailer announcer barking orders and accolades in your ear the whole time!

Oh, and female agents, they could start out as A-cups and at level 5, they're sporting double Ds and a back brace! Ok, I'm sorry, that was bad! But seriously, the fairer sex has to be an option in any game the requires a gamer to choose a template then invest hours leveling and evolving his or HER choice into a powerhouse.

You do know that it's highly likely that their's not going to be a third Crackdown right?

The company who made the Crackdown games, Realtime Worlds, closed it's doors shortly after Crackdown 2's release.

However Microsoft do own the rights to the series, but I doubt they will do anything with it now after the abysmal sales of Crackdown 2.

Man, SUPER sad face!

The first Crackdown was really good, an unapologetic, super soldier sandbox game that really opened wide the gates of potential for co-op play and really won out when many expected little more than a Halo 3 beta vehicle. 2 was.... Ok, 2 was NOT 1, but had some decent additions that led me to believe a third installation would be a textbook case of third time being a charm! I hope you're wrong....

Just like the GTA model. Same basic concept with a new location and some new cars and new Agent attacks. That's all a Crackdown sequel needs to be. 2's big failing was it left out a bunch of what made the first one so great; Car Morphs, Agent specific weaponry, more than one simple character model that changes over time, mulitple tiered bosses where you have to gauntlet the lieutenants while working your way up to take on the main boss in each gang.

All the things they took away from us after the first game made the sequel feel scaled back and anemic. Developer people, just look at Crackdown and do that again. I don't even need your story. The first game was near perfect in that the story that played out was all mine to direct and dictate. Just build me an interesting world with all the things I loved in the original and I will buy a CD3 without hesitation.

You're only telling half the story friend.

Yes, Realtime Worlds made Crackdown. Then a good part of the team wanted to work on APB while the other half wanted to make Crackdown 2. The half that didn't want to work on APB left the company to form their own studio and THEY made Crackdown 2.

While one could argue that they were clearly better off as a whole since the second Crackdown wasn't as memorable or engaging as the first and since APB effectively closed down Realtime Worlds, but as you pointed out MS still owns the property and we could eventually see a Crackdown 3 provided there's a market for it, and I certainly think there is.

A new goddamn city >_< I loved Crackdown 1 but Crackdown 2 was just a massive dissapointment because it was fundamentally the same game in every way

This! So, between the OP, you and me, that's three copies sold... Is that a "market?"

Basicly offer more of what the first game was trying to offer, freedom on how to take on the missions. Crackdown 2 had zombies that just ruined what made Crackdown 1 fun since the player just ran around killing zombies without even planning anything. In Crackdown 1 it was possible to go to a high place, examine the battlefield, decide on how to advance (ground level, through rooftops or by sea, and that is just planning the route), and then try to kill the target. In Crackdown 2 you just keep killing whatever you were already killing (you just cant rest in that game and plan your shit) and advance to the target.

While not a bad idea, If they were to do this, I want to have the choice of when I start a new game to play as either the Agency or the Resistance.

Course, doubtful there will be a third game, but still...

True, there might/probably won't be a third game, but there's no harm in a little wishful thinking.

One thing I'd like see again, the character morphing. I like that in the first game, you got taller from Agility, and got more Armor from strength and so on. In the second game there was just one character model for you once any skill became level 2.
And the car morphing, it was fun how you started out in a sports car and had the Batmobile by the end. Plus it always looked cool to be speeding out of the garage as your car morphed into a tank.
It would be nice to have the city prettied up again too, in the second game it was just depressingly bland.
