What do the titles under people's usernames mean? Like my is muckraker, what does it mean? I'm just curious.

It means you've been doing a lot of muckraking around here, and the mods have taken note of it!

It's just tied into post count. You get a certain number of posts, and it'll change.

The exception is custom title, which are given to either staff/contributors/etc or Publisher Club members. Both groups get a custom title (if you're both, you get two).

A muckraker is someone who uncovers corruption and scandals. The go to example in American Literature is usually Upton Sinclair, and his novel The Jungle.

All the forum awarded titles are press/news/journalism related. Gonzo journalism for example is the style attributed to Hunter S Thompson. As mentioned above Upton Sinclair was a muckracker.

They are all journalism related, I believe, until you hit 5000+ or have a Pub-club membership.

So I wear a face that says "He works at Kinko's" until either my post count grows without much hazard, pay into the pub club, or the mod's find my posts charming enough to embellish me with a title? Neat.

Its all journalism related slang, though I paid my way into gaining the title of a member of the imperial family.

There are a variety of things I would prefer to be an Extraordinaire of, apart from Wordsmithery.
