Gregory \g-rego-
ry,
gr(e)-
gory\ is pronounced GREG-er-ee. It is of Greek origin, and its meaning is "watchful, vigilant". The first of the 16 popes and 10 saints to bear the name was called Gregory the Great. He founded monasteries, reorganized papal administration and fostered the development of the Gregorian chants. Gregor is a Scottish and German variant; Gregori is Russian; Grigor is Welsh and Russian.

Eugene means "well born." My name on my birth certificate, however, is not Eugene. It is Gene. My name means "born." Can you think of a more useless bit of information to tell about yourself? I used to complain until my brother, Mark, reminded me that his name was often used as a synonym for "scuff" or "scratch."

I never complained too much, though. I've always felt that "Gene" suited my better than "Eugene."

Well, my first name (Gustavo) means "staff of the gods" or "holy staff".

Funny, because my last name is Guerrero, which means "Warrior". My middle name, Charles, means...man or manly.

So I'm a manly warrior who wields staffs.

Amanda- Latin for "to be loved". Bullies back in grade school obviously never took the time to learn the meaning of my name!!
My name was hugely popular in like the 90's even going as far as to be ranked 4th!
... in 2006 I hit an all time low.. ranked 102...

There is no direct one-to-one translation into English for my name. The closest that comes is a combination of "luck" and "destiny". Yes I am a lucky bastard too.

I honestly don't have a clue.

My real first name is Meinte and try as I might, I can't find it anywhere.
(Incidentally, my brothers are called Aldo and Douwe, so it's not like I'm the only one with this problem)

Ahh Crap, Timothy: (Greek: Τιμόθεος; Timótheos, meaning "honouring God")

The name I want because I HATE Timothy for being too comon, Axel: a Scandinavian (Swedish, Norwegian, Danish) and German masculine given name, which is also used in parts of the English-speaking world. Axel is a Scandinavian form of the name Absalom meaning "Father of peace".

Well Im certainly no Parent or "Holy Father", but Peace seems spot on.
