What does your Minecraft base say about you?

After a long Minecraft session today I realized that all of the bases I've built have been extensive underground labyrinths, completely invisible from the surface and usually only accessible through hidden underwater entrances. Reflecting on this it's probably because I prefer to stay inside IRL and the windows in my house are almost always covered up. Oh, and my room when I was a teenager was in the basement, which is where I spent most of my time.

I think it's a neat look at the subconscious, as the kinds of things we build when given total freedom have to be drawn from somewhere.

So I ask you this, do you think there's a connection between your personality and the types of bases/monuments/projects you've built in Minecraft, and if so what?

I don't build bases. I'm nomadic and spend the night living in a burning forest that way the lighting's good and i'm protected. This really says nothing about me because I prefer to stay indoors.

Mine are generally built deep into mountains, or hidden in the tree tops. Usually with deadly traps at the entrance.
Although I have made the occasional tower with several storeys and a sandstone lobby.

Soooo. I have no idea what it means. I think I just build whatever the terrain allows best for.

my latest one is a log cabin on top of a big cliff with a nice paved road to my mine that is in another nearby mountain

not sure what that says

Rectangular, wood cabin with 1 door, no windows and no actual flooring past the dirt.

"Uncreative."

Paranoid and protective.

I have an underground bunker protected by walls at least 5 blocks thick. No windows, one door, plenty of traps.

Also a panic room. No underground bunker's complete without one.

I love building enormous bases out of massive collections of vertically stacked trees, yet IRL I'm seriously uneasy around heights. So, essentially, my base makes me a hypocrite. :p

Could be that you like quaint comfort, and keeping work separate from daily life.

Hmm. Maybe that I prefer a secure, impenetrable place, while still being accessible?

I don't know, really. I build all of my bases <a href=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Khazneh>Al Khazneh style.

perhaps, my first base was a volcano fortress with my mines all under it.... certainly made it easier to get to at night

Well...

First world: I have a cobblestone mini-castle, and I do mean "mini," with a fenced-in moat around it. A small sandstone temple around my spawn-point, (world made before beds). A nice farm area with a never-ending water spring. A ways away I have a wooden "haunted" mansion. I have a couple of mines, one I haven't really started to explore. And I have a firepit for disposing of unneeded stuff, but it's not working anymore.

Second world: I have a two-story sandstone house with a balcony and wooden wraparound porch, and small farm behind it. A cobblestone temple around my spawn-point, (again world made before beds). A wooden boat house. A large wooden tower a ways away surrounded by cactus. A small cobblestone structure that is the entrance to my mine right next to my house. A secure tunnel through a near by mountain. On a tiny desert island I have a sandstone temple with my nether portal in it. I have a cobblestone lighthouse I just finished not to long ago. I have a floating, yes I said "floating," sandstone temple above a small lake close to my house. And I have a firepit here, and it actually working thanks to netherrack.

Third world: I have a tree house with a large yard and farm area around it. I have a working firepit across the a bridge close by. I built my nether portal in a cave behind a waterfall. I have a couple of emergency shelters built into near by mountains. And I have a mine and a spelunking cave I found.

I have no idea what that all says about me except for the fact that I'm not to keen on the mole lifestyle.

I don't really build bases. I have maybe a 10x10x7 wooden hut where I keep my chests/workbench/furnace, but apart from that, i do not touch the surface. At all. Everything i do is underground. My current project is to make the ground one block thick for a couple of chunks (dig anywhere, and you fall into bedrock) I have no idea what that says about me.

well, i built a 2 story house, with a bedroom, and a lobby that houses my many assorted chests and furnaces. i also have a giant bookcase (i like it to look homely).

i guess i like familiarity then :/

but i also like security because i have a porch with 2 double doors, over a pit of burning netherrack going ALL the way around my house :)
plus a bunker with all the essentials, and access to my mine. so that means i dont like to go outside much?

i dont know im just guessing here :)

Mine's a giant floating tower that tapers outwards at the top with only a couple of entrances that are all guarded. It also floats over a giant mob harvester so that any mobs that loiter underneath will eventually be killed.

So I guess it says "Just fucking try, creepers".

I showed a friend a couple of my bases and he commented that on the interiors they look more like ant colonys / insect hives than buildings. I guess because of using a lot of split level rooms and over/under tunnels and oddball architecture... he said they looked like very uncomfortable places to live.

Then again, he's probably the sort of guy who'd play minecraft and build himself a traditional wooden cottage, so maybe he's not the best judge.

I always build castles out of stone, with towers and crenellated walls.

Guess that means I like to know I'm in a well fortified position, though, no amount of stone ever stops the creepers!
