What does your tree look like?

Howdy Off-Topic!

I'm disappointed in the lack of Christmas-y threads in this forum, so let's make this place roughly 5% merrier! Plus, my family have just finished wrapping and placing presents under the tree,[footnote]With the exception of my mum Santa, who puts her his presents down later.[/footnote] so my tree won't look any different until tomorrow.

So, let's have a discussion about that classic conifer that consistently becomes the centrepiece at this celebratory time of year: The Christmas Tree. Have you gone for a traditional classic [http://www.villagelife.com/files/2010/12/ChristmasTree.jpg] or wild and experimental [http://craphound.com/images/1qvnB.jpg]? Is every bauble carefully selected and positioned perfectly or just thrown anywhere where it will stay? Is it real or plastic?[footnote]If anyone asks, yes, this is still about the tree.[/footnote]

[footnote]I wonder if anyone's going to point out that my title is 'Giftless Loser' despite there being plenty of gifts under that tree.[/footnote][/spoiler]

The tree itself is plastic. We used to get wood trees but have just been reusing this one for the past few years. My mum wanted a red & gold theme this year, so we've only used those colours for decorations. I was originally of the opinion 'screw themes, just use all the decorations', but I now think the more restrained look is kind of nice. The fairy on top is one we use every year.

So Escapists, that's my tree out of the way. How about yours, or any other decorations you may have?

Yer picture is b0rken :p

My parents got an artificial tree a few years ago they've gone with, looks pretty cool, has the lights built into it and some of the needles are actually fiberoptic lights that flash in different patterns, looks like electric snow on it XD

Then they just hang various decorations on it from when I was younger :)

It's a simple plastic Christmas tree with the tinsel wrap around it in a strange straight instead of spiral (don't as me why it's like that, mum put it up!). This year however we using a angel at the top now (bought from my workplace) instead of the usual star which is strange looking cos it look so small (I guess I am used to seeing the big star on top of it).

My dad had a mini one like that to put on tables. No idea if he still has it; it's been a while since I last saw it out.

We live in the hills, so we just went out and chopped the bastard out of a pine tree. We did the usual thing and propped it up with the crappy side to the wall. I like our trees; each is amusingly dysfunctional in its own way. Rick Berman would have a field day with just how much crap our tree is bristling with - it's so dense, I could swear that each branch has hundreds of things going on...

We subscribe to the school of "I Think It'll Work. Yeah, Hopefully It'll Work".

Hey me too, but with hamburger helper and no whiskey. I suppose I could upload a picture of a random corner in my house. "This is where my tree would go if I wanted to mess with putting one up and taking one down for the sake of it." XD

My Uni housemate did that last year. A society he is part of cut down a tree in the Mendips for a party and he took it home afterwards. It was a bit weird waking up the next day to see a pine tree in the living room with no prior warning.

It did however remind me of one major benefit of a fake tree: No needles to worry about. Those pricks got all over the sofa and carpet.

The sorta boyfriend (long story [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.862900-Boyfriend-of-3-1-2-Years-Kinda-Broke-Up-With-Me?page=1]) hates Christmas, whereas I love it. There isn't much room for decorations.

Smells really nice at least.

I don't have a tree, because I don't intend on doing anything for Christmas. Bah, humbug!

I'll probably spend today reading and or writing, as i did yesterday.

My grandmother put a single sad piece of tinsel on a pot plant.

We aren't practically into Christmas at my house.

A mop, a green blanket, and some stools. Its structure is improbable, potentially dangerous, and anti-Christian.

So, yeah, pretty damn good Christmas tree.

Fake 10 dollar Christmas tree that stands a foot tall, and is wrapped in some tinsel. It's been there since last Christmas since it takes up virtually no space...with a bottle of Sake next to it, guarded by some action figures.

I didn't put up a normal tree this year. Instead I used a tree my mother got me for a few years ago while I was away at school.

I'm just imagining this as that line from Fairly Odd Parents:

"And this is where I'd put a tree. IF I WANTED ONE!"[footnote]For the confused: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omguEZ7jy5E[/footnote]

This is mine, I'm pretty pleased with it. Except for the bottom, which looks stupid.

...I am so jealous right now. That looks awesome.

How bright are those lights? Because from those photos they look like they're the only lights switched on in the room.

Since my mom was not in the mood to put up the tree this year, I stepped up and put it up... at my grandmother's place... Her tree's a bit skinny, but it can still hold all of my home-made ornaments and shit... Other than that, the only thing that was under the tree was the fake tinsel that's been falling off the tree for more than 10+ years...

<color=white>No, none of us are in the mood to buy another tree for next year... Besides, we'd rather spend the holidays celebrating Advent instead of Santa, anyway...
