1. Subtitles
2. Complete control customization (including remapping of the quicksave/quickload keys)
3. The ability to both pause AND skip cut-scenes
4. Mouse sensitivity, with more range than fast and ridiculously fast
5. The ability to turn cross-hairs off (at least for games with an ironsight)
6. Chapter/level select screen (I don't want to have to play the entire damn game again just because I like one level)
7. Support for multiple mouse thumb buttons
8. The ability to quit directly to the desktop without 6 million prompts/menus/torturing-devices-for-the-indecisive
9. Multiple difficulties, ALL unlocked right out of the box

I'm picky, what can I say?

1. Skipping cutscenes, even if you haven't seen then yet.
2. Skipping boss intros after you've lost. It's frustrating as all hell to watch a boss transform (or whatever) over and over again when you lose a couple times in a row.
3. Camera control! Seriously, why are their games that still exist in which you can't invert the axis controls.
4. Always being able to pause. This was the one fault in Demon's Souls IMO. I understand the immersion they were going for, but life happens.
5. Un-Stuck button. Just had this happen in Borderlands. Got stock between some rocks and had to lure mobs to kill me so that I could respawn. (Vindictus gave me this idea)
6. Level Replaying, Part replaying, Scene replaying. Sometimes I want to run an entire level again, sometimes I just want to play a certain part. Sometimes I want to view an in-game cutscene, and sometimes I want to view a cutscene. Don't get me wrong, you should have to at least beat the level before unlocking this, if not the whole game.

Difficulty lower than normal, I fucking HATE Killer 7 because I get FUCKED IN THE ASS by foes because I can't aim for crap without Kaede. Also, save states from emulators, not everyone can get to a save point and some games barely have a pause button, so why can't I save anywhere, any time?
Sometimes it removes the challenge of the game altogether.

This is why I don't like PC gaming sometimes. All you need to do is quick save/quick load at the right times and you can complete levels almost effortlessly. Ruins the experience.

I would prefer to see the death of cutscenes altogether. Outdated concept really.

What they should do instead to ensure that the game isn't just milking it's "pre-rendered story" is have all story related events happen in-game without pausing the action. Half-life 2 and Portal come to mind as good examples of this. Then when the events finish, automatically save so if you die, you don't have to experience it again.

Keeping videogames an interactive/immersive experience and removing the annoyance factor of seeing the same stuff over again.
