What first impression do you make?

Terrible. Most people I meet for the first time take a dislike to me. They warm up after a bit.

Aw man, I've started my first year in university so it's all about first impressions at the moment.
Physically, I'm a bit scruffy at the moment, need to shave - which I'm about to do right now - and a haircut, which will happen tomorrow. Hopefully appearance doesn't play a HUGE part in just talking to someone and thinking they're nice, but sure I'm alright looking
Apart from that I try just being friendly. Can be a bit awkward at times, but I'm good at approaching people and starting conversation when everyone else is being a bit quiet, not knowing each other.
I tend to crack a lot of jokes, not sure if everyone always gets them, but nothing offensive.
When I did a one year college course last year, I was the oldest so I was the old guy who knew stuff about college already. That was ok, I was like some wise sage imparting my wisdom on the young uns.

Creepy is the only thing I can think of. Proabably because I'm quite shy, so I tend to be really quiet around new people

A. Very polite and overall very bland

I think people tend to think I'm funny and hyperactive. Generally when I -can- do the whole socialising thing it tends to slip my mental state into really hyper very quickly. Many people have said they thought I was smart, but I think smart is a fairly common 'can't think of anything, pick something that's probably true and sounds good' thing to say, rather than necessarily genuine. Whatever people think, I seem to have no trouble making friends.
The silent, mysterious type. Which is accurate, up until I get to know them, wherein I become loud and talkative. This has led to a lot of people jarred by the difference. Several girlfriends have even referred to me as a "disappointment" over it. Shallow cows.
I always make the impression of an ugly fuck to make jokes about for 90% of the population. Not being pessimistic, but it always seems this way, not matter how hard I try.

I don't get much feedback exactly but I will give off one of two different impressions. Either:
Funny, silly, happy, friendly, and generally awesome
or
quiet and shy (which is more likely)
I do get a cute here and there and a couple of people have said they were afraid of me when they first met me, but that's just silly. I'm harmless.
Edit: Oh and I have been told I look like a vampire by some girl before. Annoyed the crap out of me.
