Fps games have storys!?!?

I honestly cant think of any that truly stick out in my mind.

One of the biggest problems i have is poking holes in storys, and thats really why i cant say most Fps games have a "good" story.

Half-life 2.
I've never really got into Halo because the environments in the early ones are very identical and there's no real stark changes.
The Half-life's campaigns had huge changes, from the interiors of the labs, to Xen, to coastline, city apartments, the citadel, sewers, sandtraps... there was so much change and as a level designer I love picking through the lighting, shapes and general constructs of environment that made up the entire thing.
Halo just has a lot of identical corridors copy-pasted together, with the occasional change to top of world grassland and tundra. There were also the interior spaces, but navigation through lighting and intuitive mechanisms are scarce. Not to mention the huge cliché's used in the script.

Half Life 2 had a great campaign. Bioshock was good. If I can say Unreal Tournament's Tournament was a campaign then that was a lot of fun.

Of the games I've played, i would have to say it was Halo: combat evolved. Loved that game, replayed that campaign more than any game that wasn't an rpg.

It's a toss up between Halo CE and Bioshock. But I'd probably have to go with Halo, since I played it to death.

Half-Life 2 had perfect pace, excellent characters, and a beautifully chilly and bleak atmosphere.

The first Halo was actually pretty excellent, too. The story wasn't all that original, but the whole thing felt as impressive and epic as any big-budget science fiction film.

I haven't played much of Crysis, but its campaign seemed to be pretty good as well.

I wonder if I could cheat and say something by Bethasda.
I still need/want to get Bioshock badly...
I liked Halo and the Bad Company's campaigns.
The Modern Warfare's campaign never got to me.

But World at War's Russian campaign was just so full of win. It made me proud to be Russian, and I'm not even Russian.

Well everyone showed interesting points but i always go back to Half Life 2, Call of Duty 2 and Deus Ex.

Reasons:
-HalfLife2 had an interesting story revolving to a much bigger plot that we could antecipate, balancing our character between powers (breene vs Gman), that would show us interesting characters and that would lead us to an interesting adventure with an ending of epic propotions.

-CallofDuty2. I cant how many times ive finished it... i mostly loved the russian levels, to be an underground freedom fighter, in a beautifull and interesting game... i loved the D-day level, the invasion level every single thing of that game i loved.... the first ww2 game i ever played, and one that i really connected too...

-DeusEx your joking me for not including this one... the first 3D fps/rpg, with multiple endings and choices that could impact the history itself... i simply love it :3

The one that sticks best in my memory would be BioShock. I was captivated from beginning to end.
